RIDSDALE LABORATORY CORE TEST PIECE BLOWERIGENERAL INSTRUCTIONSThe Ridsdale Laboratory Core Test Piece Blower is designed for the production of bondedsand test pieces. Relatively simple dies are used enabling slab test pieces of anyconfiguration to be produced, such as those needed for hot distortion, tensile or transversetesting.The machine can be used for making test pieces from oil-cereal, cold curing, hot box or shellsand mixtures.IIDESCRIPTION OF MACHINEThe machine is shown in Fig. 1. It consists of a main frame holding the die clamps andheater plates, and a blowing head to which is attached a sand magazine which can beraised and lowered by a rack and pinion operated by a weighted handle. The sand mixturecontained in the magazine is blown into the die by operating a lever. The die temperature iscontrolled by a thermostat. The individual parts are numbered in Fig. 1 and their functionsare as follows :-No 1 - Temperature Control PanelEnables the required die temperature to be set. The temperature of the dies is indicated onthe digital display in °C.59
