Linear Ion Trap Electronics<br />
Functional Description<br />
Printed Circuit Boards<br />
The linear ion trap is connected to the <strong>LTQ</strong> <strong>Orbitrap</strong> <strong>XL</strong> main power<br />
switch. The linear ion trap has a sheet metal back cover. Figure 1-23<br />
shows the electronic connections at the rear side of the linear trap.<br />

The linear ion trap electronics has two connections with the<br />
<strong>LTQ</strong> <strong>Orbitrap</strong> <strong>XL</strong> electronics:<br />
• Data communication with the internal computer of the<br />
<strong>LTQ</strong> <strong>Orbitrap</strong> <strong>XL</strong>. Refer to the topic “Electronic Boards at the<br />
Right Side of the Instrument” on page 1-32.<br />
• Signal communication (SPI bus) with supply information for the<br />
instrument control board. Refer to the topic “Instrument Control<br />
Board” on page 1-37.<br />
