Figure 1-25 shows the preamplifier (P/N 207 8900) 1 . The preamplifier<br />

is located in a housing next to the Cold Ion Gauge.<br />

This board is a broadband preamplifier with differential<br />

high-impedance inputs. It serves as a detection amplifier and impedance<br />

converter for the image current created by the oscillating ions. The<br />

output current is transferred to the data acquisition board. It has an<br />

amplification factor of about 60 dB and covers the frequency range from<br />

15 kHz to 10 MHz.<br />

The diagnostic LEDs on the preamplifier are listed in Table 1-3 on<br />

page 1-34. The positions of the diagnostic LEDs on the board are<br />

indicated by white rectangles in Figure 1-25.<br />
