This intake was not in proportion to the Trust’s existingstaff profile (see figure 5.1.2).Figure 5.1.2: Starters by age (Newham)5.1.3 Whipps CrossThe 30-34 age group contained the most starters in the period (22.36%). The success rate –the discrepancy between the rate of applications <strong>and</strong> the starter rate – is quite volatile, withapplicants under the age of 30 being less successful than those aged 30-40; <strong>and</strong> applicantsbetween 45-49 more successful than those aged 50-54 (see figure 5.1.3).79
