4 Burner4 Burner4.1 Burner selectionFor the Logano plus SB315, SB615 and SB745 floorstanding gas condensing boilers, matching pressure-jetgas burners are required. They must be approved toEN 676 and bear the CE mark. Either 2-stage ormodulating pressure-jet gas burners can be considered.For preference, modulating burners should be used. Aminimum burner load is not required.For Logano plus SB315, SB615 and SB745 floorstanding oil condensing boilers, type-tested oil burners toEN 267 can be used if they are approved by themanufacturer for low sulphur fuel oil EL to DIN 51603-1(sulphur content < 50 ppm) and for fuel oil EL A Bio10 toDIN 51603-6, and if their operating range correlates withthe boiler specification.When selecting a burner, it must be ensured that thepressure drop on the hot gas side is reliably overcome.When positive pressure at the flue outlet is required(sizing of the flue system), this must be taken intoconsideration in addition to the pressure drop on the hotgas side.To simplify planning and facilitate installation, theLogano plus SB315 VM and SB615 VM floor standinggas condensing boilers (up to 310 kW) are available asUnit versions with modulating premix gas burners of theLogatop VM type, and the SB315 oil/gas (up to 70 kW)as a Unit version with the Logatop BE-A blue flame oilburner from Buderus. Furthermore, the Logano plus SB615and SB745 floor standing gas condensing boilers areavailable with matching pressure-jet gas burners from theWeishaupt and Riello brands. The standard deliveryincludes the boiler, burner and drilled burner plate. Withthe versions without a burner, a drilled or non-drilledburner plate must be ordered separately.For further details regarding burners andassociated burner plates, see the currentBuderus catalogue.4.2 Modulating Logatop VM gas premixburner4.2.1 Equipment overviewThe Logano plus SB315 VM floor standing gascondensing boilers are supplied as standard as the Unitversion with matching modulating Logatop VM2.0 and3.0 premix gas burners ( fig. 23, page 31), and theLogano plus SB615 VM floor standing gas condensingboilers up to boiler size 310 with the Logatop VM4.0 and5.0 ( fig. 24, page 31) from Buderus.All Unit versions with Logatop VM are characterised byfactory matching and testing of the burners at operatingtemperature. Precisely matching the burner output to theboiler size results in high levels of efficiency and lowpollutant and sound emissions. The compact design andlow weight of the Logatop VM burners enables easyhandling.The central component of all Logatop VM is the metalfibre burner rod. In the mixing zone of this rod, thecombustion air and fuel gas undergo optimal premixingand are then distributed evenly over the surface. The largeflame surface area and even distribution of the mixturecause combustion to begin smoothly at low temperaturesand with low NO x emissions. As a result of modulatingoperation, the noise level is so low that the Logatop VMburner is practically inaudible even without the burnerhood, particularly in partial load operation. Additionalsound insulation measures are usually unnecessary.The Logatop VM premix gas burner is fitted as standard tothe boiler door, which can be pivoted open formaintenance. All components that are important forcorrect function are easily accessible for service work.The burner control unit of the burner shows currentoperating and service conditions.The burner door can pivot either to the left or right.However, the opening direction is limited to only one sideby the gas line or gas train. Burner44.2.2 Logatop VM2.0 and 3.0 forLogano plus SB315 VMThe Logatop VM2.0/3.0 has electrical ignition and flamemonitoring. The gas is supplied evenly via two gas combivalves and a gas pressure switch, and is possible from theleft or right. All important parameters are factory-set tonatural gas E; subsequent adjustments are not necessary(plug and burn). The Logatop VM2.0/3.0 is suitable fornatural gas E, LL and LPG. For information on convertingto other gas types, see page 33.124.2.3 Logatop VM4.0 and 5.0 forLogano plus SB615 VM (up to 310 kW)The Logatop VM4.0/5.0 has electrical ignition and flamemonitoring. The gas is supplied via a gas combi valve onthe left hand side of the burner. The gas combi valvecontains a double solenoid valve with continuoustightness test integrated as standard. All importantparameters are factory-set to natural gas E; subsequentadjustments are not necessary (plug and burn).
