9 Installation9.6 Accessories for sound insulation9.6.1 RequirementsThe necessity and scope of measures for sound insulationare based on the sound level and the noise disturbancethis causes. Buderus offers three devices for soundinsulation that are specially suited to floor standingcondensing boilers, and can be supplemented withadditional on-site sound insulation measures.On-site measures include fixing the pipework to attenuatestructure-borne noise, compensators in the connectionlines and flexible connections with the building. Thedevices for sound insulation require extra space, whichshould be factored in at the planning stage.9.6.2 Burner silencer hoods from BuderusBurner silencer hoods reduce the intake and combustionnoises of pressure-jet oil and gas burners which arecreated due to turbulence and pressure fluctuations in thecombustion chamber. They reduce the airborne noisegenerated by the burner and reduce the sound pressurelevel in the installation room from between 10 dB(A) and18 dB(A) (total level). In order to ensure effective sound insulation, burnersilencer hoods must always be combined with othersound insulation measures, e.g. anti-vibration boilersupports or flue gas silencers. The burner silencer hood from Buderus consists of asheet steel casing which fully surrounds the burner. Thecombustion air is drawn in by the burner via a large,sound-insulated duct. Nonetheless, the combustionvalues must be checked with and without the burnersilencer hood to be able to make any necessarycorrections to the burner settings. The connection to the boiler is made without gaps, withanti-vibration foam seal and lockable castors. Heightadjustable base with castors enables precise adjustmentsto the relevant boiler/burner combination, and easyaccess to the burner for installation work andmaintenance.Burner silencer hoods from Buderus are both functionaland specially colour-matched to Buderus boilers. Theycan be used for all common pressure-jet oil and gasburners ( fig. 53).The choice of burner silencer hood is guided by both thedimensions of the burner and the boiler used( page 85).When designing the installation room, allow extra spacefor the burner silencer hood. This means the spacerequired in front of the boiler to remove the burner silencerhood. However, this is usually already factored in becauseof the access required for cleaning the boiler. In order for the burner silencer hood to function securely, the fuel line must be soundproofed. The sealing materialis delivered with the burner silencer hood.Fig. 53Fig. 54f AL DIIIL D [dB]30252015105Oil burner silencer hood6 720 642 881-36.1il030 50 100 200 500 1000 2000 4000f A [Hz]Sound level reduction with burner silencerhoods from Buderus (dimensions page 85)FrequencySound level reduction (sound insulation)Burner silencer hood SH IBurner silencer hood SH IIIII6 720 642 881-37.1il84Technical guide Floor standing gas/oil condensing boilers Logano plus SB315, SB615, SB745 – 6 720 802 589 (2012/01)
