Regulations and operating conditions55 Regulations and operating conditions5.1 Extracts from the regulationsThe design and operating characteristics of the BuderusLogano plus SB315, SB615 and SB745 floor standingcondensing boilers meet the requirements of EN 267,EN 303, EN 676, EN 677 and DIN 4702-6. Duringinstallation and operation of the system, standardengineering practices and the provisions of the buildingsinspectorate and any legislative and regionalrequirements must be observed.Installation, gas and flue gas connections,commissioning, power supply, maintenance and repairwork must only be carried out by authorised contractors.PermitsThe installation of a gas condensing boiler may need to benotified to and may need to be approved by the respectivegas supply utility.Floor standing gas condensing boilers may only beoperated with a flue system that has been designed forthe specific boiler type and that has been approvedaccording to relevant building regulations.Where required, inform your local flue gas inspector andwater board prior to installation. Regional approvals forthe flue system and the drainage of condensate into thepublic sewage system may be required.MaintenanceAccording to para. 11 of the Energy Savings Order EnEV[Germany] we recommend the regular inspection of boilerand burner to ensure environmentally responsible andtrouble-free operation. As part of this, it should bechecked that the entire system is working properly.We recommend system operators take out a maintenanceand inspection contract with the heating contractor orburner manufacturer. Regular maintenance is theprerequisite for safe and economical operation. Ingeneral, burner manufacturers only furnish the warranty ifa maintenance and inspection contract has beenconcluded.5.2 Operating requirementsThanks to the optimised technology of theLogano plus SB315, SB615 and SB745 floor standingcondensing boilers with condensing p heating surfaces,there are no special requirements for a minimum returntemperature or minimum flow rate.This facilitates system design and keeps installationaffordable.The heating circuit control unit with 3-way mixersimproves the control characteristics and is specificallyrecommended for systems with several heating circuits.4-way mixers and injection circuits should be avoided asthese reduce the condensing effect.Further information can be found in the section onhydraulic connection ( page 49).5.3 Burner selection and settingsThe sizing and settings of the burner have a significantinfluence on the service life of the heating system. Everyload cycle (burner on/off) causes thermal stresses (loadson the boiler body). The number of burner starts musttherefore not exceed 15,000 per year.The following recommendations and settings aredesigned to meet this criterion (see also information onsetting the control unit and the hydraulic connection to theheating system). If you still cannot meet this criterion,please contact the Buderus sales or service department.The number of burner starts can be checkedin the MEC ( chapter 5.4, page 38).• Use modulating burners where possible.• Select burners that are suitable for the boiler and heatdemand to keep the available modulation range asbroad as possible.• Set the burner output as low as possible.• Set the burner to the combustion heating output QNspecified on the data plate as a maximum.• Never overload the boiler!• Take fluctuating net calorific values of the gas intoaccount; check the maximum value with the gas supplyutility.• Only use burners that are suitable for the specifiedfuels. Ensure that the oil burner used is suitable for lowsulphur fuel oil (otherwise corrosion from metal dustingmay occur).
