• Within the scope of the IT infrastructures, the design of<br />
the new local networks <strong>for</strong> new premises and<br />
enlargement of existing infrastructures and, in the area<br />
of communications, the design of the new connections<br />
and the restructuring of the WAN network of the <strong>EDP</strong><br />
Group;<br />
• In the middleware area, the development of the SGD, a<br />
document management product;<br />
• In support of the <strong>EDP</strong> call centre, management of the<br />
contract with <strong>EDP</strong> Distribuição calling <strong>for</strong> the provision<br />
of call centre services and the advance of the project to<br />
interconnect the incident management system with the<br />
call-centre support system;<br />
• In the area of georeferenced solutions, the extension of<br />
the Geo<strong>EDP</strong> Programme to <strong>EDP</strong> Valor to manage its<br />
real-estate holdings; and<br />
• In Brazil, the solutions in the georeferenced in<strong>for</strong>mation<br />
systems and content management systems <strong>for</strong><br />
companies of the <strong>EDP</strong> Group.<br />
Business outside the <strong>EDP</strong> Group<br />
EDINFOR was particularly active in the Central<br />
Government sector, namely:<br />
• In Social Security, the development of solutions<br />
connected with the introduction of the Social Income,<br />
the question of temporary disability and of the<br />
Administrative Process Code, the Single Current<br />
Account and the implementation of the Social Security<br />
accounting and financial system;<br />
• In the Health sector, a project <strong>for</strong> waiting lists, a<br />
preliminary project involving the concept of a new<br />
health card, and support to the development of the<br />
Health call centre; and<br />
• In the revision of the Citizens Shop Portal, in the<br />
maintenance of the SAP system of the National<br />
Administration Institute and in the implementation of a<br />
new back-office system <strong>for</strong> the Madeira Autonomous<br />
region.<br />
In Local Government:<br />
• In the concept and implementation of portals, Internet<br />
pages, back-office systems, and commercial and billing<br />
systems <strong>for</strong> Local Authorities; and<br />
• In the creation of a municipal data warehouse <strong>for</strong><br />
underground infrastructure management <strong>for</strong> the city of<br />
Lisbon, consolidation of the cartographic cover of<br />
mainland Portugal and its sharing with local<br />
authorities.<br />
In the Banking and Insurance sector:<br />
• In the implementation of e-learning systems,<br />
contracting loans, general scanning and archiving, card<br />
fraud and complaints, and data warehouse<br />
underpinning marketing activity; and<br />

• In the implementation of a solution in the field of<br />
medicine at work.<br />
In the utilities sector:<br />
• In the implementation of an automatic system to<br />
receive customer meter readings using the ELAG and<br />
SCGA applications, allowing voice recognition in<br />
addition to keyboard communication;<br />
• In the implementation of commercial and billing<br />
systems <strong>for</strong> water companies in Portugal and abroad,<br />
the development of e-learning systems <strong>for</strong> an oil<br />
company and maintenance of management systems<br />
and implementation of new applications <strong>for</strong> several<br />
electricity companies; and<br />
• In major projects <strong>for</strong> Electricidade dos Açores (in<br />
partnership with GlobalEDA) and <strong>for</strong> Electricidade da<br />
Madeira in the georeferenced area.<br />
In the Telecommunications, Media and Post Office sector<br />
the focus is on the concept of an agent commission<br />
system <strong>for</strong> a postal company and on the development and<br />
implementation of a billing system <strong>for</strong> a big media<br />
company.<br />
Important activities were also seen in Industry, Services<br />
and Transport, specifically:<br />
• Support to the development of new corporate processes<br />
in the in<strong>for</strong>mation systems area of a railway company;<br />
and<br />
• Implementation of management and complaints<br />
systems <strong>for</strong> civil construction companies and of a data<br />
warehouse <strong>for</strong> a motorway concession company <strong>for</strong><br />
traffic control purposes.<br />
In the Hotel and Tourism area, attention is drawn to the<br />
implementation and maintenance of new back and frontoffice<br />
systems <strong>for</strong> various hotel groups.<br />
With regard to the Commerce and Distribution sectors,<br />
the spotlight is on the implementation of Navision<br />
solutions <strong>for</strong> several chains of stores, in addition to the<br />
provision of outsourcing and maintenance services.<br />
In almost all the <strong>for</strong>egoing sectors the provision of<br />
printing services was also of importance (the envelopes<br />
and <strong>for</strong>ms markets) as were the finishing and mailing<br />
services provided by EDINFOR. In the printing area, the<br />
focus is on the increase of envelope exports to Spain and,<br />
in the finishing area, on the improvement of the service<br />
provided to the BCP Group.<br />
On the international market attention is called to:<br />
• The development and implementation of a SAP<br />
in<strong>for</strong>mation system <strong>for</strong> the Central Bank of<br />
Mozambique:<br />
• A CRM system in Tunisia <strong>for</strong> Tunisie Leasing and backoffice,<br />
data-warehousing and <strong>plan</strong>ning systems <strong>for</strong><br />
Companhia de Electricidade de Macau;
