Pedro Bastos Rezende Member of the Executive Committee<br />
He graduated from the ICAI, Madrid, in Industrial and<br />
Mechanical Engineering in 1985. He took his MBA at the<br />
INSEAD in Fontainebleau in 1990. His professional<br />
career began in 1985 at VALEO Clutch Division, as<br />
development engineer. He left this company in 1989<br />
when he was head of the Test, Experiment and<br />
Prototype Department and, following a period in<br />
Detroit, Michigan, as technical-commercial engineer, he<br />
joined The Boston Consulting Group in 1990 as<br />
consultant in Madrid. In 1995 he was involved in<br />
opening the Lisbon office and, in 1997, he was elected<br />
partner, jointly in charge of the development of the<br />
<strong>business</strong> in Portugal and accumulating internal<br />
management duties in Iberia and in Europe. During this<br />
stage of his career he had the opportunity to work not<br />
only with <strong>EDP</strong> but also with some of the bigger, more<br />
prestigious multinationals operating in several sectors.<br />
Rui Horta e Costa Chief Financial Officer<br />
He graduated in Economy from Universidade Católica<br />
Portuguesa and took his MBA at the University of<br />
Minnesota. He was executive director of UBS Warburg<br />
in London from 1995 to 2000, director of the Jorge de<br />
Mello Group (1990-1995), resident vice-president of<br />
Citibank Portugal (1989-1990) and manager and<br />
assistant to the board of Banco Finantia (1987-1989). He<br />
began his professional career as assistant lecturer of the<br />
University of Minnesota MBA Programme (1986), then<br />
joining the staff of MDM-Sociedade de Investimentos<br />
(1986-87).0<br />
Vítor Costa Martins Non-Executive Director<br />
He graduated from the Instituto Superior de Economia<br />
e Gestão in 1970. He is currently senior consultant of the<br />
Citigroup (since 1997). He is a member in the Strategic<br />
Orientation Board of the Jacques Delors “Notre Europe”<br />
Association. He is a member of the management board<br />
of the Institute <strong>for</strong> International Strategic Studies, the<br />
general board of the Forum of Company Directors and<br />
the professional disciplinary board of the Association of<br />
Economists. He was senior specialist and principal<br />
adviser of the Studies and Planning Office (GEP) of the<br />
Ministry <strong>for</strong> Industry (1971-1979), director of the<br />
European Integration Office (1979-1985) and director of<br />
the GEP (1982-1985). He was a member of the European<br />
Integration Committee (1979-1985), in charge of the<br />
industrial and energy dossiers in the negotiations<br />
surrounding Portugal’s membership of the European<br />
Union. He chaired the <strong>EDP</strong> Supervision Commission<br />
(1982-1985) and was chairman of the board of directors<br />
of Jazztel Portugal (1999-2001). He was secretary of<br />
State <strong>for</strong> European Affairs in the 10 th, 11 th and 12 th<br />
Constitutional Governments (1985-1995). From 1996 to<br />
2002 he was member of the Public Markets Consultative<br />
Committee of the European Commission.<br />
