Another factor that should also be underscored in the<br />

<strong>EDP</strong> Group’s position in Brazil in 2003 is its relationship<br />

with both customers and authorities.<br />

<strong>EDP</strong> Brazil has adopted a position of social responsibility,<br />

preservation of its good name and reputation and strict<br />

regard <strong>for</strong> prevailing standards and rules, in an<br />

endeavour to provide the very highest service quality to<br />

its customers and to provide its staff with a better work<br />

environment <strong>for</strong> their personal and professional<br />

development.<br />

In this connection, it continued to focus on the application<br />

of the most advance technologies, and on the<br />

modernisation of its structures and of the services<br />

provided, in step with the training and motivation of its<br />

human capital. At the same time, constructive dialogue<br />

with the authorities was a prime focus of the company.<br />

On the basis of these guidelines, <strong>EDP</strong> Brazil is expected to<br />

consolidate its position as a benchmark of the Brazilian<br />

electricity sector in <strong>2004</strong>.<br />
