Hecontinues to be a non-executive director of Ericsson.R W DudleyRobert Dudley (56) joined the Amoco Corporation in 1979 for whom heworked until its merger with <strong>BP</strong> in 1998. Following a variety of posts inthe US, the UK, the South China Sea <strong>and</strong> Moscow, in <strong>20</strong>01 he becamegroup vice president responsible for <strong>BP</strong>’s upstream businesses in Russia,the Caspian Region, Angola, Algeria <strong>and</strong> Egypt. From <strong>20</strong>03 to <strong>20</strong>08, hewas president <strong>and</strong> chief executive officer of TNK-<strong>BP</strong> in Moscow. He wasappointed an executive director in April <strong>20</strong>09 <strong>and</strong> oversaw the group’sactivities in the Americas <strong>and</strong> Asia. Between 23 June <strong>and</strong> 30 September<strong>20</strong>10, he served as the president <strong>and</strong> chief executive officer of <strong>BP</strong>’s GulfCoast Restoration Organization in the US. On 1 October <strong>20</strong>10 he became<strong>BP</strong>’s group chief executive.P M AndersonMember of the chairman’s <strong>and</strong> Gulf of Mexico committees <strong>and</strong> chairman ofthe safety, ethics <strong>and</strong> environment assurance committeePaul Anderson (66) was appointed a non-executive director of <strong>BP</strong> on1 February <strong>20</strong>10. He is a non-executive director of BAE Systems PLC <strong>and</strong>of Spectra Energy Corp. He was formerly chief executive at Duke Energywhere he also served as chairman of the board. Having previously been chiefexecutive officer <strong>and</strong> managing director of BHP Limited <strong>and</strong> then BHP BillitonLimited <strong>and</strong> BHP Billiton Plc, he re-joined these latter boards in <strong>20</strong>06 as anon-executive director, retiring on 31 January <strong>20</strong>10. Previously he served as anon-executive director on numerous boards in the US <strong>and</strong> Australia.F L BowmanMember of the chairman’s, Gulf of Mexico <strong>and</strong> safety, ethics <strong>and</strong>environment assurance committeesFrank Bowman (67) joined <strong>BP</strong>’s board on 8 November <strong>20</strong>10. He servedfor over 38 years in the United States Navy, during which time he servedas comm<strong>and</strong>er of the nuclear submarine USS City of Corpus Christi <strong>and</strong>comm<strong>and</strong>er of the submarine tender USS Holl<strong>and</strong>, director of politicalmilitaryaffairs on the joint staff <strong>and</strong> chief of naval personnel. He wasdirector of the naval nuclear propulsion programme in the Department ofNavy <strong>and</strong> Department of Energy. After retiring from the Navy as an admiral,he became president <strong>and</strong> chief executive officer of the Nuclear EnergyInstitute. He served on the <strong>BP</strong> Independent Safety Review Panel <strong>and</strong> onthe <strong>BP</strong> America Advisory Panel. He is president of Strategic Decisions, LLC<strong>and</strong> a director of Morgan Stanley Mutual Funds.A Burgmans, KBEMember of the chairman’s, nomination <strong>and</strong> safety, ethics <strong>and</strong> environmentassurance committees <strong>and</strong> chairman of the remuneration committeeAntony Burgmans (65) joined <strong>BP</strong>’s board in <strong>20</strong>04. He was appointed tothe board of Unilever in 1991. In 1999, he became chairman of UnileverNV <strong>and</strong> vice chairman of Unilever PLC. In <strong>20</strong>05, he became nonexecutivechairman of Unilever PLC <strong>and</strong> Unilever NV, retiring from theseappointments in <strong>20</strong>07. He is also a member of the supervisory boards ofAkzo Nobel N.V., Aegon N.V. <strong>and</strong> SHV Holdings N.V.C B CarrollMember of the chairman’s, nomination <strong>and</strong> safety, ethics <strong>and</strong> environmentassurance committeesCynthia Carroll (55) joined <strong>BP</strong>’s board in <strong>20</strong>07. She started her career atAmoco <strong>and</strong> in 1989 she joined Alcan, where in <strong>20</strong>02 she was appointedpresident <strong>and</strong> chief executive officer of Alcan’s primary metals group <strong>and</strong>an officer of Alcan, Inc. She was appointed as chief executive of AngloAmerican plc, the global mining group, in <strong>20</strong>07. She is also a director of DeBeers s.a. <strong>and</strong> chairman of Anglo Platinum Ltd.Sir William Castell, LVOMember of the chairman’s, Gulf of Mexico, nomination <strong>and</strong> safety, ethics <strong>and</strong>environment assurance committeesSir William (64) joined <strong>BP</strong>’s board in <strong>20</strong>06 <strong>and</strong> is the senior independentdirector. From 1990 to <strong>20</strong>04, he was chief executive of Amersham plc <strong>and</strong>subsequently president <strong>and</strong> chief executive officer of GE Healthcare. Hewas appointed as a vice chairman of the board of GE in <strong>20</strong>04, steppingdown from this post in <strong>20</strong>06 when he became chairman of the WellcomeTrust. He remains a non-executive director of GE. He will retire from the<strong>BP</strong> board at the conclusion of the <strong>20</strong>12 AGM.I C ConnIain Conn (49) joined <strong>BP</strong> in 1986. Following a variety of roles in oil trading,commercial refining, retail <strong>and</strong> commercial marketing operations, <strong>and</strong>exploration <strong>and</strong> production, in <strong>20</strong>00 he became group vice president of<strong>BP</strong>’s refining <strong>and</strong> marketing business. From <strong>20</strong>02 to <strong>20</strong>04, he was chiefexecutive of petrochemicals. He was appointed group executive officerwith a range of regional <strong>and</strong> functional responsibilities <strong>and</strong> an executivedirector in <strong>20</strong>04. He was appointed chief executive of Refining <strong>and</strong>Marketing in <strong>20</strong>07. He is a non-executive director <strong>and</strong> senior independentdirector of Rolls-Royce Holdings plc, chairman of The Advisory Board ofImperial College Business School <strong>and</strong> a member of The Council of TheImperial College.G DavidMember of the chairman’s, audit, Gulf of Mexico <strong>and</strong> remunerationcommitteesGeorge David (69) began his career in The Boston Consulting Group beforejoining the Otis Elevator <strong>Company</strong> in 1975. He held various roles in Otis<strong>and</strong> later in United Technologies Corporation (UTC), following Otis’s mergerwith UTC in 1977. In 1992, he became UTC’s chief operating officer.He served as UTC’s chief executive officer from 1994 until <strong>20</strong>08 <strong>and</strong> aschairman from 1997 until his retirement in <strong>20</strong>09.I E L DavisMember of the chairman’s, nomination <strong>and</strong> remuneration committees <strong>and</strong>chairman of the Gulf of Mexico committeeIan Davis (60) joined <strong>BP</strong>’s board on 2 April <strong>20</strong>10. He spent his early careerat Bowater, moving to McKinsey & <strong>Company</strong> in 1979. He was managingpartner of McKinsey’s practice in the UK <strong>and</strong> Irel<strong>and</strong> from 1996 to <strong>20</strong>03. In<strong>20</strong>03, he was appointed as chairman <strong>and</strong> worldwide managing director ofMcKinsey, serving in this capacity until <strong>20</strong>09. He retired as senior partnerof McKinsey & <strong>Company</strong> in July <strong>20</strong>10. He is a non-executive director ofJohnson & Johnson, Inc <strong>and</strong> a senior adviser to Apax Partners. He is also anon-executive member of the UK’s Cabinet Office.Professor Dame Ann DowlingMember of the chairman’s <strong>and</strong> safety, ethics <strong>and</strong> environment assurancecommitteesDame Ann (59) joined <strong>BP</strong>’s board on 3 February <strong>20</strong>12. She was appointeda Professor of Mechanical Engineering in the Department of Engineeringat the University of Cambridge in 1993. Between 1999 <strong>and</strong> <strong>20</strong>00 shewas the Jerome C Hunsaker Visiting Professor of Aerospace Systems atMIT subsequently becoming a Moore distinguished scholar at Caltech in<strong>20</strong>01. When she returned to the University of Cambridge, she becameHead of the Division of Energy, Fluid Mechanics <strong>and</strong> Turbomachineryin the Department of Engineering, becoming UK lead of the SilentAircraft Initiative in <strong>20</strong>03 <strong>and</strong> Head of the Department of Engineeringat the University of Cambridge in <strong>20</strong>09. She is chair of the PhysicalSciences, Engineering <strong>and</strong> Mathematics Panel in the Research ExcellenceFramework – the UK government’s review of research in universities.She was appointed Director of the University Gas TurbinePartnership with Rolls-Royce in <strong>20</strong>01 <strong>and</strong> chairman in <strong>20</strong>09. Between <strong>20</strong>03<strong>and</strong> <strong>20</strong>08 she chaired the Rolls-Royce Propulsion <strong>and</strong> Power AdvisoryBoard.
