In <strong>20</strong>03 he was appointed directorof TNK-<strong>BP</strong>, retiring from the board in <strong>20</strong>05 <strong>and</strong> re-joining in <strong>20</strong>10. From<strong>20</strong>05 to <strong>20</strong>10 he was chief executive of integrated supply <strong>and</strong> trading, <strong>BP</strong>’scommodity trading arm. In <strong>20</strong>10 he was appointed deputy group chieffinancial officer with responsibility for the finance function. On 1 January<strong>20</strong>12 he was appointed to the board of <strong>BP</strong> p.l.c. <strong>and</strong> became chieffinancial officer.Dr B E GroteByron Grote (63) joined <strong>BP</strong> in 1987 following the acquisition of the St<strong>and</strong>ardOil <strong>Company</strong> of Ohio, where he had worked since 1979. He became grouptreasurer in 1992 <strong>and</strong> in 1994 regional chief executive in Latin America.In 1999, he was appointed an executive vice president of Exploration <strong>and</strong>Production, <strong>and</strong> chief executive of chemicals in <strong>20</strong>00. He was appointed anexecutive director of <strong>BP</strong> in <strong>20</strong>00. Between <strong>20</strong>02 <strong>and</strong> 31 December <strong>20</strong>11 hewas <strong>BP</strong>’s chief financial officer. In January <strong>20</strong>12 he became executive vicepresident, corporate business activities. He is a non-executive director ofUnilever NV <strong>and</strong> Unilever PLC.B R NelsonMember of the chairman’s committee <strong>and</strong> chairman of the audit committeeBrendan Nelson (62) joined <strong>BP</strong>’s board on 8 November <strong>20</strong>10. He is achartered accountant <strong>and</strong> was admitted as a partner of KPMG in Londonin 1984. He served as a member of the UK Board of KPMG from <strong>20</strong>00 to<strong>20</strong>06 subsequently being appointed vice chairman until his retirement in<strong>20</strong>10. At KPMG International he held a number of senior positions includingglobal chairman, banking <strong>and</strong> global chairman, financial services. He is anon-executive director of The Royal Bank of Scotl<strong>and</strong> Group plc wherehe is chairman of the group audit committee. He is Vice President of theInstitute of Chartered Accountants of Scotl<strong>and</strong>, a member of the Financial<strong>Report</strong>ing Review Panel <strong>and</strong> a director of the Financial Skills Partnership.F P NhlekoMember of the chairman’s <strong>and</strong> audit committeesPhuthuma Nhleko (51) joined <strong>BP</strong>’s board on 1 February <strong>20</strong>11. He beganhis career as a civil engineer in the United States <strong>and</strong> as a project managerfor infrastructure developments in Southern Africa. Following this, hebecame a senior executive of the St<strong>and</strong>ard Corporate <strong>and</strong> Merchant Bankin South Africa. He later held a succession of directorships before joiningMTN Group, a pan-African <strong>and</strong> Middle Eastern telephony group, as grouppresident <strong>and</strong> chief executive officer in <strong>20</strong>02. He stepped down as groupchief executive of MTN Group at the end of March <strong>20</strong>11 <strong>and</strong> became vicechairmanof the MTN Group <strong>and</strong> chairman of MTN International. He is anon-executive director of Anglo American plc.A ShilstonMember of the chairman’s <strong>and</strong> audit committeesAndrew Shilston (56) trained as a chartered accountant before joining <strong>BP</strong>as a management accountant. He subsequently joined Abbott Laboratoriesbefore moving to Enterprise Oil plc in 1984 at the time of flotation. In 1989he became treasurer of Enterprise Oil <strong>and</strong> was appointed finance directorin 1993. After the sale of Enterprise Oil to Shell in <strong>20</strong>02, in <strong>20</strong>03 he becamefinance director of Rolls-Royce plc until his retirement on 31 December<strong>20</strong>11. Andrew has served as a non-executive director on the boards of AEATechnology plc <strong>and</strong> Cairn Energy plc where he chaired the remuneration<strong>and</strong> audit committees. He recently joined the board of Circle Holdings plcas a non-executive director. He will become senior independent director atthe conclusion of the <strong>20</strong>12 AGM.Senior managementM BlyMark Bly (52) joined <strong>BP</strong> in 1984. Following various engineering <strong>and</strong>commercial leadership assignments he held business unit leader postsin Alaska <strong>and</strong> the North Sea <strong>and</strong> was strategic performance unit leaderfor <strong>BP</strong>’s North America Gas business. In <strong>20</strong>07, he became group vicepresident, Exploration <strong>and</strong> Production <strong>and</strong> a member of the exploration <strong>and</strong>production operating committee. In <strong>20</strong>08, he became group head of safety<strong>and</strong> operations <strong>and</strong> in October <strong>20</strong>10 he was appointed executive vicepresident of safety <strong>and</strong> operational risk.R BondyRupert Bondy (50) joined <strong>BP</strong> as group general counsel in <strong>20</strong>08. In 1989,he joined US law firm Morrison & Foerster, working in San Francisco <strong>and</strong>London. From 1994 to 1995, he worked for UK law firm Lovells in London.In 1995, he joined SmithKline Beecham as senior counsel for mergers <strong>and</strong>acquisitions <strong>and</strong> other corporate matters. He subsequently held positionsof increasing responsibility <strong>and</strong>, following the merger of SmithKlineBeecham <strong>and</strong> GlaxoWellcome, he was appointed senior vice president <strong>and</strong>general counsel of GlaxoSmithKline in <strong>20</strong>01.Dr M C DalyMike Daly (58) joined <strong>BP</strong> in 1986 as a technical specialist in structuralgeology, subsequently joining <strong>BP</strong>’s global basin analysis group. After aseries of exploration business <strong>and</strong> functional roles in South America, theNorth Sea <strong>and</strong> new business development, in <strong>20</strong>00 he became presidentof <strong>BP</strong>’s Middle East <strong>and</strong> South Asia businesses. In <strong>20</strong>06, he was appointed<strong>BP</strong>’s head of exploration <strong>and</strong> new business development <strong>and</strong> in October<strong>20</strong>10 he was appointed executive vice president, exploration.R FryarBob Fryar (48) joined Amoco Production <strong>Company</strong> in 1985, serving in avariety of engineering <strong>and</strong> management positions in the onshore US <strong>and</strong>deepwater Gulf of Mexico. In <strong>20</strong>03, he was appointed vice president ofoperations performance unit for <strong>BP</strong> Trinidad <strong>and</strong> later, in <strong>20</strong>09, he becamechief executive officer for <strong>BP</strong> Angola. In October <strong>20</strong>10, he was appointedexecutive vice president, production.A HopwoodAndy Hopwood (54) joined <strong>BP</strong> in 1980 as a petroleum engineer. Followinga series of operational <strong>and</strong> corporate planning roles, in 1999 he wasappointed business unit leader in Azerbaijan, returning to London in <strong>20</strong>01as the upstream chief of staff. He became strategic performance unitleader for <strong>BP</strong>’s North America Gas business in <strong>20</strong>04, returning to London in<strong>20</strong>09 as head of portfolio <strong>and</strong> technology for <strong>BP</strong>’s upstream businesses. InOctober <strong>20</strong>10, he was appointed executive vice president of strategy <strong>and</strong>integration.B LooneyBernard Looney (41) joined <strong>BP</strong> in 1991 as a drilling engineer, working ina variety of roles in the North Sea, Vietnam <strong>and</strong> the Gulf of Mexico <strong>and</strong>later in the exploration <strong>and</strong> technology group. In <strong>20</strong>05, he became seniorvice president for <strong>BP</strong> Alaska, before moving to be head of the groupchief executive’s office. He was appointed vice president for Norway <strong>and</strong>infrastructure in <strong>20</strong>08 <strong>and</strong> then, in <strong>20</strong>09, he became managing director of<strong>BP</strong>’s North Sea business. He joined Amoco Production <strong>Company</strong> as a petroleumengineer in 1980. He held a variety of roles before becoming group vicepresident for Russia <strong>and</strong> Kazakhstan in <strong>20</strong>03, also being appointed to theboard of TNK-<strong>BP</strong> in <strong>20</strong>04. In <strong>20</strong>07, he was appointed senior group vicepresident of <strong>BP</strong> <strong>and</strong> executive vice president of <strong>BP</strong> America. In early <strong>20</strong>08,he became executive vice president of <strong>BP</strong> p.l.c. special projects, focusingon Russia, subsequently joining the group executive management team. InOctober <strong>20</strong>10, in addition to his current duties, he was appointed president<strong>and</strong> chief executive officer of the Gulf Coast Restoration Organization.D SanyalDev Sanyal (46) joined <strong>BP</strong> in 1989 <strong>and</strong> has held a variety of internationalroles in London, Athens, Istanbul, Vienna <strong>and</strong> Dubai. He was appointedchief executive, <strong>BP</strong> Eastern Mediterranean Fuels in 1999. In <strong>20</strong>02,he moved to London as chief of staff of <strong>BP</strong>’s worldwide downstreambusinesses. In <strong>20</strong>03, he was appointed chief executive officer of Air <strong>BP</strong>following which in <strong>20</strong>06, he became head of the group chief executive’soffice. He was appointed group vice president <strong>and</strong> group treasurer in <strong>20</strong>07.During this period, he was also chairman of <strong>BP</strong> Investment ManagementLtd <strong>and</strong> accountable for the Group’s aluminium interests. He wasappointed an executive vice president <strong>and</strong> group chief of staff with effectfrom 1 January <strong>20</strong>12.Dr H SchusterHelmut Schuster (51) joined <strong>BP</strong> in 1989. He held a number of roles workingin most parts of refining, marketing, trading <strong>and</strong> gas <strong>and</strong> power in the US,UK <strong>and</strong> Continental Europe. In <strong>20</strong>07 he became vice president, humanresources for Refining <strong>and</strong> Marketing in <strong>BP</strong> <strong>and</strong> in <strong>20</strong>10 he added corporate<strong>and</strong> functions to his portfolio.
