The dorsalfoot branch leaves ST42 and descends to the medialside of the great toe at SP1. There are 45 acupuncturepoints on either side of the body1.4.13 spleen meridian (SP) 足 太 陰 脾 經1.4.14 heart meridian (HT) 手 少 陰 心 經one of the twelve regular meridians which runsfrom yinbai (SP1) at the medial side of the greattoe, ascends along the medial side of the foot andtibia and anteromedial side of the thigh to the lowerabdomen. It then enters the abdomen and connectswith the spleen and stomach. The meridian ascendsat a distance of 4.0 cun lateral to the conceptionvessel, and terminates superficially at dabao (SP21) inthe sixth intercostal space on the midaxillary line. Themeridian continues internally past the supraclavicularfossa and terminates at the base of the tongue. Thegastric branch leaves the stomach and ascendsinternally past the diaphragm and connects with theheart. There are 21 acupuncture points on either sideof the bodyone of the twelve regular meridians which originates inthe heart, descends internally past the diaphragm andconnects with the small intestine. The cardiac branchascends internally paralateral to the esophagus andterminates at the eye. The main branch leaves theheart, traverses the lung and emerges superficiallyin the midaxilla at jiquan (HT1) and descends alongthe ulnar side of the forearm medially, terminating atshaochong (HT9) on the radial side of the tip of thesmall finger, with 9 acupuncture points on either side1.4.15small intestinemeridian (SI)手 太 陽 小 腸 經one of the twelve regular meridians which originatesat shaoze (SI1) at the ulnar side of the little finger,ascends the ulnar side of the forearm, the arm, overthe scapula to dazhui (GV14) between the spinousprocesses of the 7th cervical and 1st thoracicvertebrae.
