PCMS 630 Commercial Transactions in a TechnologicalEnvironment: Law, Management, and Technology (3)(Formerly ADMN 660.) Recommended: PCMS 627 or ADMN 627.A presentation <strong>of</strong> the legal issues and management methodologiesrelated to commercial transactions in a technological environment.Topics include the law, ethics, accountability, and contract managementconsiderations in the procurement <strong>of</strong> technology products andservices. Discussion also covers commercial sales transactions, governmentcommercial item acquisition, private and government contractsfor services, assignment and protection <strong>of</strong> proprietary rights in technologyproducts, technology transfers, and international contractualissues in the procurement <strong>of</strong> products and services.PCMS 631 Integrative Supply Chain Management (3)(Formerly ADMN 622.) A study <strong>of</strong> supply chain issues, techniques,methodologies, and strategies designed to enhance organizationalprocurement efficiency. Integrated supply chain management,as a core competitive strategy that affects the organization’sbottom line, is explored. Topics include the integration <strong>of</strong> information,supplies and materials flows across multiple supply chainchannels, and how these flows can be streamlined and optimizedfor more efficient procurement. Discussion also covers the role <strong>of</strong>information systems and technology in supply chain management,e-commerce strategies, managing the flow <strong>of</strong> materials across thesupply chain, developing and maintaining supply chain partnershipsand other relationships, and future challenges in integrativesupply chain management.PCMS 632 Contemporary Logistics (3)(Formerly ADMN 623.) A study <strong>of</strong> logistical issues, techniques,methodologies, and strategies designed to enhance organizationalefficiency. Topics include the total cost approach to logistics; logisticalplanning and implementation; logistical concepts; systemsrelationships and integration; demand forecasting; interplant movement;inventory management and control; order management andprocessing; packaging; plant and warehouse selection; productionscheduling; traffic and transportation management; warehouse anddistribution management; recycling; and other logistical strategies,techniques, and methodologies.PCMS 650 Legal Aspects <strong>of</strong> Contractingand Commercial Transactions (6)A study <strong>of</strong> the law relevant to commercial, governmental, andinternational purchasing, contracting, and other legal transactions.Focus is on agency law, contracts, sales, torts, antitrust, ethics, andaccountability. Discussion covers contract management considerationsin the procurement <strong>of</strong> products and services. Topics includecommercial sales transactions, government commercial item acquisition,private and government contracts for services, assigning andprotecting propriety rights in technology products, technologytransfers, and international contractual issues in the procurement<strong>of</strong> products and services. The Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)and American Bar Association Model Procurement Code for stateand local government are investigated. The authority <strong>of</strong> purchasing,unauthorized purchases, rights and duties <strong>of</strong> sellers and buyersunder a contract, buyer rights upon receipt on nonconforminggoods, ability to terminate a sales contract, formation <strong>of</strong> governmentcontracts, and formal dispute resolution are also addressed.Students who receive credit for PCMS 650 cannot receive creditfor PCMS 627 or PCMS 630.PMAN (Project Management)PMAN 600 Project Management: Foundationsand Advanced Methods (6)A one-semester study <strong>of</strong> the foundations <strong>of</strong> project management,including project planning, organizing, team building, tracking,and controlling. Analytical and quantitative concepts involved inproject management (such as techniques for estimating projecttime and cost, optimizing allocation <strong>of</strong> resources, expeditingprojects, and applying scheduling algorithms) are examined.Simulation tools and statistical techniques are used to analyzeuncertainty in project selection, budget allocation, and time estimation.The processes, tools, and techniques <strong>of</strong> project managementare applied to a large-scale governmental or commercial projectthat is developed from proposal to completion through groupwork. Students who receive credit for PMAN 600 may not receivecredit for PMAN 634, PMAN 635, or PMAN 670.PMAN 634 Foundations <strong>of</strong> Project Management (3)An overview <strong>of</strong> the theory and practice <strong>of</strong> managing projects inany organization. Focus is on the fundamental building blocks <strong>of</strong>project management, including project planning, organizing, teambuilding, tracking, and controlling projects. Key aspects <strong>of</strong> managementand proven techniques that differentiate project managementfrom other types <strong>of</strong> management are examined in-depth. The goalis to gain a solid understanding and foundation to successfullymanage each phase <strong>of</strong> the project life cycle, work within organizationalconstraints, set goals linked directly to stakeholder needs,and utilize proven project management tools to complete projectson time and within budget while meeting specifications.
