Trefurt Jr. was born in <strong>Jersey</strong> <strong>City</strong> on March 4, 1939 to Charles E.Trefurt, Sr. and Ann O'Brien. Charles and his two bro<strong>the</strong>rs were raised in <strong>the</strong> GreenvilleSection where <strong>the</strong>y attended St. Paul's grammar school andWHEREAS, Charles E. Trefurt Jr. attended Snyder High School where he was anoutstanding student. He enrolled at <strong>Jersey</strong> <strong>City</strong> State College with <strong>the</strong> dream <strong>of</strong> a career ineducation; andWHEREAS, on September 9,1962 Charles married <strong>the</strong> former Angelina Petroccia. Theirunion has been blessed with two sons, Charles and Joseph; andWHEREAS, Charles E. Trefurt Jr. began his career in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Jersey</strong> <strong>City</strong> Public SchoolSystem in September 1966 as a teacher <strong>of</strong> history/economics at Dickinson High SchooL.During his early years in <strong>the</strong> system, Charles earned a Masters Degree in Education fromSeton Hall University; andWHEREAS, Charles E. Trefurt Jr. rose thorough <strong>the</strong> teaching ranks and became a Dean,Assistant Principal and ultimately Principal <strong>of</strong> School #8 in 1976, where he served withdistinction for more <strong>the</strong>n 27 years. In 2003, he became a special assistant to <strong>the</strong>Superintendent; andWHEREAS, a lifelong <strong>Jersey</strong> <strong>City</strong> resident, Charles found <strong>the</strong> time, while raising his ownfamily, to serve his community. His community service has included <strong>the</strong> chairmanship <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong>Greenville Hospital Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees and membership on <strong>the</strong> Housing Authority Board andBoard <strong>of</strong> Alcoholic Beverage Control; andWHEREAS, after over fort years in education Charles retired on October 1, 2006. The<strong>Jersey</strong> <strong>City</strong> Public Schools recently named P.S. No. Eight in his honor.NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that <strong>the</strong> Municipal Council <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Jersey</strong><strong>City</strong> does hereby honor Charles E. Trefurt, Jr. for his many years <strong>of</strong> dedicatedservice to <strong>the</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Jersey</strong> <strong>City</strong> on <strong>the</strong> occasion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> naming <strong>of</strong> P.S. '<strong>Resolution</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Jersey</strong> <strong>City</strong>, N.J.<strong>City</strong> Clerk File No. Res. 09-900Agenda No.10.Z.3Approved: OCT 2 8 2009TITLE:00 i:~PORATP s'tRESOLUTION REMOVING A RESTRICTION FROM THE DEEDOF CONVEYANCE THAT AFFECTS BLOCK 1925 LOT 44.BADDRESS 18-20 PARK STREET JERSEY CITY, NEW JERSEYCOUNCILfollowing resolution:<strong>of</strong>fered and moved adoption <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>WHEREAS, <strong>the</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Jersey</strong> <strong>City</strong> on March 19, 2003 sold <strong>the</strong> above propertnot needed for public use to: 140 Grant Avenue Associates, L.L.C. ;and,WHEREAS, <strong>the</strong> conditions <strong>of</strong> sale set forth that <strong>the</strong> purchaser renovated <strong>the</strong>propert and obtain a Certificate <strong>of</strong> Occupancy; and,WHEREAS, on Januar 23,2004, <strong>the</strong> Municipal Council <strong>of</strong>a Deed to <strong>the</strong> owner <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Jersey</strong> <strong>City</strong> released<strong>the</strong> propert with <strong>the</strong> express condition that no purchaser without <strong>the</strong> expressconsent <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> Muncipal Council by <strong>Resolution</strong>, be permitted to sell, conveyor o<strong>the</strong>rwse transfer<strong>the</strong> propert before all <strong>the</strong> conditions <strong>of</strong> sale are fully completed; and,WHEREAS, <strong>the</strong> Construction Official, Raymond Meyer has signed and issued aCertificate <strong>of</strong> Continued Occupancy on Block 1925 Lot 44.B also known as 18-20 Park Streetindicating that <strong>the</strong> propert was renovated in compliance with condition <strong>of</strong> sale which wasadopted by <strong>the</strong> Muncipal on Februar Ii, 2003.WHEREAS, in accordance with State Law in order for this <strong>Resolution</strong> to be recorded in<strong>the</strong> Hudson CQunty Register's Office it must contain an acknowledgment.NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by <strong>the</strong> Municipal Council that:1.
