REVIEW RELEATED LITERATUREIntroductionEnglish is a world language , and its one of the six languages which areused in the United Nations. Therefore , English has become a necessaryneed for human beings to communicate with others all over the worldespecially in the age of globalization where the world became a smallvillage where the demand of English increased .People everywhere deal with this language in their specialization andnowadays we can find different associations in different areas requestingEnglish as one of the main conditions for applying to different jobs.Different methods and strategies were used to teach English language andone of these strategies is concept maps which are a basic principle to buildup new knowledge with reference to the previous one .Concept maps were used to enhance communication , learning ,teachingand to bring about good achievement .A - Concept maps as a tool for achievementEsiobu and Soyibo (2006 )This study verified the efficiency of concept and V ee mapping heuristicsunder cooperative (CP), cooperative -competitive (CP -CM) andindividualistic whole (IW) class learning conditions in improving students'achievement in ecology and genetics. A total of 808 tenth -grade students70
were involved in the study. The results showed that the experimental groupstaught with concept and vee mappings under the three learning modes achievedsignificantly better than the control group. Students in the CP-CMcondition in all groups achieved significantly better than their counterpartsin the other two groups, whereas the CP -CM experimental group studentsachieved significantly best. A significant interaction between treatment andability suggested that an element of competition, when combined withsmall group cooperation, favored students of lower ability .Stoddart ( 2006)This study describes the use of concept maps to assess the understanding ofscience concept and science language production of elementary studentswho are English language learners ( ELL) , The research assessment ofsciences content understanding in ELL students i s particularly challengingbecause it is difficult to determine whether students’ performance reflectstheir understanding of the concepts or their language proficiency , conceptmaps allow students to demonstrate what they have learned in their primaryor second language or both , in a task where the linguistics demands orminimized , a method is described which evaluates 400 grades 2 -5 ELLstudents’ performance in four categories : (1) number of propositions , (2)scientific accuracy , (3) depth of explan ation and (4) science vocabulary ,71
