PAGE 159 * Morgan State University Faculty HandbookPOLICY ON OFFICIAL GRADUATION DATESGRADUATION/DIPLOMA POLICYIn order to be eligible for graduation, students are expected to know and satisfy allrelevant degree requirements published in the Morgan State University Catalogincluding General Education requirements, college/school requirements, as well as therequirements in their major. While they are expected to receive guidance in courseselections and assistance in familiarizing themselves with the University’s academicpolicies from faculty advisors, chairpersons, and deans, students shall be heldresponsible for earning their degrees. Students’ failure to satisfy all relevant degreerequirements is not a basis for exceptions to the University’s academic requirementsand /or policies.Students who satisfy all degree requirements and who file a timely formalApplication for Graduation (Application) with the dean of the college/school inwhich their major is located may receive diplomas at the close of either the Spring orFall semester. Students who wish to participate in May commencement exercisesmust file an Application by October 1 of the year prior to graduation. Students whowish to receive their diplomas in December must file an Application by May 30 ofthe year of graduation. Applications for Graduation are available in the office of thedean of the college/school in which their major is located. The deadlines to apply forgraduation are published each semester in the Course Schedule Booklet.Approved by the Board of Regents 5/14/1997
