By tradition, students andteachers have certain rights and responsibilities which they bring to the academiccommunity. While the following statements do not imply a contract between theteacher or the institution and the student, they are nevertheless conventions whichshould be central to the learning and teaching process.I. . <strong>FACULTY</strong> RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIESA . Faculty members shall share with students andadministrators the responsibility for academicintegrity.B. Faculty members shall enjoy freedom in theclassroom to discuss all subject matter reasonablyrelated to the course. In turn, they have theresponsibility to encourage free and honest inquiryand expression on the part of students.C. Faculty members, consistent with the principles ofacademic freedom, have the responsibility to presentcourses that are consistent with their descriptions inthe catalog of the Institution. In addition, facultymembers have the obligation to make students awareof the expectations in the course, the evaluationprocedures, and the grading policy.D. Faculty members are obligated to evaluate studentsfairly, equitably, and in a manner appropriate to thecourse and its objectives. Grades must be assignedwithout prejudice or bias.E. Faculty members shall make all reasonable efforts toprevent the occurrence of academic dishonestythrough appropriate design and administration ofassignments and examinations, carefulsafeguarding of course materials and examinations,and regular reassessment of evaluation procedures.F. When instances of academic dishonesty aresuspected, faculty members shall have theresponsibility to see that appropriate action is takenin accordance with institutional regulations.II.STUDENT RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES. A. Students share with faculty members and theadministrators the responsibility for academic integrity.
