168 WATER TREATMENT3 LDA RESULTS AND ANALYSISTangential velocity profiles have been measured inside the separation chamber at threelocations along the x axis and for two inlet velocities. The results are shown on Fig. 4 and 5.The main conclusions which can be drawn from this results are following:– Swirl decay is an important phenomena which affects the flow field both near the wall andin the core of the vortex. Near the wall, it can be seen that the velocity decreases from aneffectively high value V0 at the begenning of the chamber to a lower value Vs at the end of it.In the core region, the maximum tangential velocity is found to be constant all along theFIG 4: Tangential velocity profiles at Q=7.2 m 3 /h-Ve=5 m/sFIG 5: Tangential velocity profiles at Q=10 m 3 /h-Ve=7 m/s
