INTRODUCTION1.1 Design ConceptThe River Fane Scheme is a Low Flow Augmentation Scheme which depends on thedevelopment of Lough Muckno as a Storage Reservoir in order to supply the waterdemand of Dundalk, the Republic of Ireland’s sixth largest urban centre located inthe North Eastern part of the Country. Water from Lough Muckno will supplementflow deficiency in the River Fane so as to provide the required flows at variouspoints downstream and particularly at the Dundalk U.D.C. Intake at StephenstownCounty Louth.
