Ms. Desurvire has pioneered research on alternative methodologies for evaluat<strong>in</strong>g<br />
the usability of user <strong>in</strong>terfaces. A summary of her research work is published<br />
<strong>in</strong> “Usability Inspection <strong>Methods</strong>” (John Wiley & Sons, edited by J. Nielsen <strong>and</strong><br />
R. Mack) <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong> an upcom<strong>in</strong>g book “<strong>Evaluat<strong>in</strong>g</strong> <strong>User</strong> <strong>Experience</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>Games</strong>:<br />
<strong>Concepts</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Methods</strong>”. Her research has appeared <strong>in</strong> journals <strong>and</strong> conferences,<br />
such as the HCI, INTERACT, <strong>and</strong> CHI.<br />
Her current research <strong>in</strong>volves develop<strong>in</strong>g pr<strong>in</strong>ciples for help<strong>in</strong>g game developers<br />
design better access <strong>in</strong> their game designs for newer gamers.<br />
Arjan Geven studied Technology <strong>and</strong> Society at the E<strong>in</strong>dhoven University<br />
of Technology (The Netherl<strong>and</strong>s), with specialization <strong>in</strong> Human–Technology<br />
Interaction. He ga<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong>ternational experience <strong>in</strong> usability <strong>and</strong> research methods<br />
at the University of L<strong>in</strong>köp<strong>in</strong>g (LIU, Sweden). He participated <strong>in</strong> various national<br />
<strong>and</strong> European research projects <strong>and</strong> is author of various publications on usability<br />
<strong>and</strong> user experience. At CURE, he deals with issues on user experience research<br />
methodology <strong>in</strong> the context of enterta<strong>in</strong>ment <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>novation.<br />
Michael Haller is a professor at the Department of Digital Media of the Upper<br />
Austria University of Applied Sciences (Hagenberg, Austria), head of the Media<br />
Interaction Lab (www.mi-lab.org), head of the Austrian Research Center NiCE, <strong>and</strong><br />
is responsible for computer graphics, human–computer <strong>in</strong>teraction, <strong>and</strong> augmented<br />
reality. His core areas of expertise are visualization <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>teraction. He received<br />
Dipl.-Ing. (1997), Dr. techn. (2001), <strong>and</strong> Habilitation (2007) degrees from Johannes<br />
Kepler University of L<strong>in</strong>z, Austria. He is active <strong>in</strong> several research areas, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g<br />
<strong>in</strong>teractive computer graphics, augmented <strong>and</strong> virtual reality, <strong>and</strong> human–computer<br />
<strong>in</strong>terfaces. His current focus is on <strong>in</strong>novative <strong>in</strong>teraction techniques <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>terfaces<br />
for next generation work<strong>in</strong>g environments. Currently, he leads a team of over 10<br />
researchers <strong>and</strong> students. In 2004, he received the Erw<strong>in</strong> Schröd<strong>in</strong>ger fellowship<br />
award presented by the Austrian Science Fund for his visit at the Human Interaction<br />
Technology Laboratory (HITLabNZ), University of Canterbury (New Zeal<strong>and</strong>), <strong>and</strong><br />
the Integrated Media Systems Center (IMSC), University of Southern California<br />
(USA). The research output <strong>in</strong>cludes 13 journal papers <strong>and</strong> book chapters <strong>and</strong> has<br />
been presented already <strong>in</strong> high-quality academic conferences <strong>and</strong> several demonstrations,<br />
<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g ACM SIGGRAPH, Eurographics, Disney’s New Technology<br />
Forum, <strong>and</strong> Ars Electronica Festival. In 2006, he was also <strong>in</strong>vited to exhibit his<br />
work for 5 years at the S<strong>in</strong>gapore Science Center. In 2007, Haller taught the ACM<br />
SIGGRAPH course “Interaction Tomorrow.” S<strong>in</strong>ce 2008, Haller is head of the<br />
Austrian Research Studio NiCE, design<strong>in</strong>g natural user <strong>in</strong>terfaces for collaborative<br />
environments.<br />
Jukka Häkk<strong>in</strong>en received his Ph.D. degree <strong>in</strong> experimental psychology from the<br />
Department of Psychology, University of Hels<strong>in</strong>ki, F<strong>in</strong>l<strong>and</strong>. Later he worked as a<br />
