Media from the University of the West of Engl<strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong> 2007, where he wrote about<br />
the nature of embodiment <strong>in</strong> Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition.<br />
He has presented talks at the Australian Game Developers Conference about<br />
program<strong>in</strong>g techniques for console development <strong>and</strong> has helped to launch <strong>and</strong> run<br />
Vertical Slice, a professional video game research company focus<strong>in</strong>g on usability<br />
<strong>and</strong> user experience.<br />
Charlotte Wiberg assistant professor <strong>in</strong> Informatics, Umeå University, Sweden.<br />
Dr. Wiberg received her Ph.D. (2003) <strong>and</strong> bachelor’s degree (1997) from Umeå<br />
University <strong>in</strong> Sweden. Dr. Wiberg is specialized <strong>in</strong> evaluation methods for evaluat<strong>in</strong>g<br />
fun <strong>and</strong> enterta<strong>in</strong>ment <strong>in</strong> digital media <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>formation technology. Her work<br />
focuses on games, websites, <strong>and</strong> other experience-related applications. In her earlier<br />
work, she conducted evaluations us<strong>in</strong>g traditional usability methods on enterta<strong>in</strong>ment<br />
IT <strong>and</strong> she proposed revision of the methods accord<strong>in</strong>g to results <strong>in</strong> order to<br />
evaluate fun. Wiberg has conducted usability design – as a researcher <strong>and</strong> practitioner<br />
– for Vodafone, Swedish National TV (SVT), TeliaSonera, Coke Zero, <strong>and</strong><br />
Le Meridien to mention some.<br />
Dennis Wixon currently serves as a user research manager for Microsoft Surface.<br />
Over the past 12 years Dennis has managed research for MSN, Microsoft Home<br />
Products, <strong>and</strong> Microsoft Game Studios. Dennis previously worked as a usability<br />
manager at Digital Equipment Corporation, where a number of important usability<br />
methods such as Usability Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> Contextual Inquiry were developed.<br />
His primary <strong>in</strong>terest is <strong>in</strong>novative research methods for more usable, useful, <strong>and</strong><br />
excit<strong>in</strong>g designs that lead to commercial success. In addition, Dennis has been an<br />
active member of the human factors community for many years. Notably, <strong>in</strong> 1982<br />
he was one of the five found<strong>in</strong>g members of the Greater Boston Chapter of the ACM<br />
SIGCHI <strong>and</strong> was general co-chair of the SIGCHI 2002 conference. He has served as<br />
vice chair for Conferences for ACM SIGCHI <strong>and</strong> has been a member of the SIGCHI<br />
Executive Committee. Dennis has authored over 50 articles, book chapters, <strong>and</strong> talks<br />
on HCI <strong>and</strong> co-edited the book Field <strong>Methods</strong> Case Book for Software Design with<br />
Prof. Judy Ramey of the University of Wash<strong>in</strong>gton.<br />
Wixon holds a Ph.D. <strong>in</strong> Social Psychology from Clark University <strong>and</strong> has published<br />
<strong>in</strong> numerous psychological journals, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g The Journal of Personality <strong>and</strong><br />
Social Psychology <strong>and</strong> The Journal of Experimental Psychology.
