Nil nehri tarih boyunca Mısır’a yaşam<br />
kaynağı oldu. Bugün ise Akdeniz,<br />
Mısır için önemli bir yaşam kaynağı<br />
olmaya aday. İtalyan enerji devi<br />
ENI, Mısır’ın kara sularında 850 milyar<br />
metreküplük rezerve sahip Akdeniz’in en<br />
büyük doğal gaz yatağını bulduğunu açıkladı.<br />
Bu keşifle İsrail doğal gazında ibre artık<br />
Türkiye’ye döndü.<br />
Mısır’ın 2012 yılında 52,6 milyar metreküp<br />
olan doğal gaz tüketimi ülkedeki siyasi<br />
istikrarsızlık ve ülke ekonomisinin gelişmelerden<br />
etkilenmesi sonucu 2013 yılında 51,4<br />
milyar metreküpe, 2014 yılında ise 48 milyar<br />
metreküpe geriledi. Mısır’ın aynı dönemdeki<br />
doğal gaz üretimi ise 2012 yılında 60,9<br />
milyar metreküp olurken, 2013’te 56,1 milyar<br />
metreküp, 2014’te ise 48,7 milyar metreküp<br />
seviyesine indi.<br />

Mısır’ın başına konan talih kuşu herkes<br />
tarafından olumlu karşılanan bir gelişme<br />
olmadı. Hazar Strateji Enstitüsü, İstanbul<br />
Enerji Programı Araştırmacısı Emin Emrah<br />
Danış, “Mısır’da bulunan gaz, komşusu İsrail<br />
ve Güney Kıbrıs Rum Yönetimi için aynı<br />
derecede sevindirici bir haber olmadı. Bu<br />
iki ülke, Türkiye ile aralarındaki sorunlar<br />
nedeniyle Doğu Akdeniz’de üretecekleri<br />
gazı Mısır’a denizin altından boru hattıyla<br />
iletmek için görüşmeler yürütüyordu. Yeni<br />
bulunan rezervler sonucu Mısır’ın gaz üretiminin<br />
önümüzdeki yıllarda ülkenin artan<br />
talebinin çok daha üzerine çıkması, ülkeyi<br />
aynı zamanda tekrar net ihracatçı konumuna<br />
da getirecek” diyor.<br />
Nile River has been the source of life for<br />
Egypt throughout history. However,<br />
today Mediterranean is a candidate to<br />
become an important source of life for<br />
Egypt. Italian energy giant ENI announced<br />
that they discovered the largest natural gas<br />
field in the Mediterranean which has 850<br />
bcm (billion cubic meters) reserves in Egypt’s<br />
territorial waters. Now Turkey has the upper<br />
hand in terms of Israeli natural gas.<br />
Natural gas consumption of Egypt diminished<br />
from 52.6 bcm in 2012 to 51.4 bcm in<br />
2013, and even to 48 bcm in 2014 due to political<br />
instability in the country and its effects<br />
on national economy. Natural gas production<br />
of Egypt in the same period was 60.9 bcm in<br />
2012, 56.1 bcm in 2013, and 48.7 bcm in 2014.<br />
BAD NEWS FOR ISRAEL AND GREEK CYPRIOT<br />
ADMINISTRATION OF SOUTHERN CYPRUS<br />
Egypt’s good luck was not welcomed by<br />
everyone. Emin Danış, researcher at Caspian<br />
Strategy Institute Istanbul Energy Program,<br />
says that “The natural gas found in Egypt<br />
has not been equally pleasing for its neighbor<br />
Israel and Greek Cypriot Administration of<br />
Southern Cyprus. These two countries were<br />
holding negotiations about the transportation<br />
of their natural gas resources in Eastern<br />
Mediterranean to Egypt via pipelines beneath<br />
the sea due to their problems with<br />
Turkey. At the same time, when the increase<br />
in Egypt’s natural gas production exceeds the<br />
country’s growing demand in coming years<br />
with newly found reserves will make the<br />
country a net exporter again.”<br />
Israel and Southern Cyprus are not the only<br />
grieving countries. This discovery is not<br />
