Checkerboard Vineyards
Checkerboard Vineyards is located on the eastern slopes of Diamond
Mountain in Napa Valley. The estate spans from the valley floor to the
2,000-foot ridgeline of Diamond Mountain’s South Fork. The threemile
drive climbs through woodlands of Madrone, Redwood, Oak and
Fir and a series of distinct vineyard valleys – each vineyard with its
own elevation, microclimate and terrior. At the 1,200-foot elevation
lies the Aurora Vineyard, the winery and the caves. With the estate’s
many soil, exposure and elevation combinations, this dramatic setting
is the inspiration for the distinctive wines of Checkerboard Vineyards,
crafted by renowned winemaker Martha McClellan. Dennis O’Neil
