2013 Red Mare<br />

Cabernet Sauvignon<br />

2013 was knockout year; a well-balanced crop and warm and steady<br />

growing season pro<strong>du</strong>ced outstanding fruit. The three most used<br />

adjectives to describe this vintage are, “early, even and excellent.” Like<br />

2012 before it, we blessed <strong>with</strong> lovely hang time conditions through<br />

October allowing us to take our time sche<strong>du</strong>ling picks <strong>with</strong>out any<br />

major weather events forcing our hand.<br />

Tasting Notes:<br />

Opens <strong>with</strong> ripe red cherries, sappy notes of fresh bay and marjoram<br />

layered <strong>with</strong> rich warm cedar. The vintage story unfolds <strong>with</strong> the<br />

darker presence of black licorice, mocha and cocoa lifted by creamy<br />

vanilla and baking spices.<br />

Nose: White tobacco and the slightly powdery, <strong>du</strong>sty notes of wet<br />

cement and dried loam<br />

Palate: Ripe fruit flavors are actively carried through the palate <strong>with</strong><br />

a core of freshness finishing <strong>with</strong> the firm, rich and ripe tannins that<br />

characterize 2013 and a lovely savory tactile persistence.<br />
