was attend<strong>in</strong>g meet<strong>in</strong>gs of the Vegetarian Society<br />

and the British Anti-Narcotic League. He said, "I<br />

feel impressed that it is my duty to send you five<br />

pounds ($25) to aid <strong>in</strong> your work." Here was over<br />

$65 from an unexpected source! We recognized<br />

this as a direct answer to prayer.<br />

But there was yet another providence. When I<br />

negotiated for a ticket on the steamer "Bristol" of<br />

the Great Western L<strong>in</strong>e, there was a delay <strong>in</strong> its<br />

arrival, and the ship "Somerset" was substituted. I<br />

went to their office to buy my ticket, but seemed to<br />

be forbidden to do so. We prayed over it for<br />

on which I embarked Nov. 16. Although we made<br />

our passage dur<strong>in</strong>g the terrible gales and ocean<br />

hurricanes of the last of November, encounter<strong>in</strong>g<br />

head w<strong>in</strong>ds and storms all the way, and were<br />

sixteen days mak<strong>in</strong>g the voyage usually made <strong>in</strong><br />

eleven, there was no damage to our steamer, and I<br />
