A zero of order n is also referred to as a zero of multiplicity n.For<br />

example, for f(z) =(z − 5) 3 we see that f(5)=0, f ′ (5) = 0, f ′′ (5) = 0, but<br />

f ′′′ (5) = 6 �= 0. Thus f has a zero of order (or multiplicity) 3 at z0 =5.A<br />

zero of order 1 is called a simple zero.<br />
