from 147 in 2014/15 to 80 in 2017/18, i.e. a reduction of 46%<br />
Future Plans<br />
• Plans to be drawn up and incorporated into the<br />
<strong>2018</strong>/19 IPC work plan, to incorporate strategies to<br />
integrate Community staff, premises and education<br />
into the IPC audit and educational plan.<br />
• Co-ordination of the First Paediatrics SIG Conference<br />
in September <strong>2018</strong>.<br />
• Roll out of use of hand hygiene audit app (introduced<br />
originally on PICU and HDU) throughout the Trust.<br />
• Investigation of all Hospital acquired cases of<br />
Influenza and RSV during the winter season to<br />
ascertain if they could have been prevented and<br />
reporting back to the clinical teams the hospital<br />
acquired RSV and Influenza A rates by 1000 bed days<br />
• Audit of compliance with NICE guideline 139 (baseline<br />
review of urinary catheter management)<br />
• Business case to be presented for three ultra violet<br />
machines for the enhancement of the deep cleaning<br />
and PPM processes throughout the Trust.<br />
• Business case to be presented for new ‘Cephaid’<br />
machine for rapid identification of carbapenamase<br />
producing organisms therefore freeing up isolation<br />
cubicles.<br />
• Surgical Site Infection surveillance to be expanded to<br />
incorporate all inpatient surgical procedures.<br />
• To examine and update the Isolation policy<br />
incorporating the most up to date research and<br />
best practice available and benchmarking the policy<br />
against other Paediatric Specialist Hospitals in the<br />
country.<br />
• To explore and develop a process across the whole<br />
Trust to monitor Central Vascular Line (CVL) data per<br />
1000 catheter days and to benchmark these rates<br />
against other Paediatric Specialist Hospitals in the<br />
country.<br />
Further details of improvement plans are captured in<br />
the Infection Prevention & Control Work Plan which will<br />
continue to be rolled out in <strong>2018</strong>/19.<br />
