as “Mr Limousin”, Norman

was the go-to person for

advice. His enthusiasm and

knowledge of the breed

was exceptional and he

contributed significantly

during his time as chairman

to raise the profile of the

breed”.

“Aled has shown immense

vision, leadership and

passion to drive and

promote the development

of the breed in the UK. In

2004, his contribution was

recognised when he was

made Chevalier Dans L’Ordre

du Merite Agricole, by the

French Government for his

contribution to the breed’s

development in the UK. Aled

served many years on Council

and was later Chairman from

2005 to 2008. He was elected

as World Limousin President

in 2008 following on from

being European President”.

John Temple

“John started out in the meat

trade as a buyer for Walter

Smith Butchers where he

later became Director before

forming his own Roughley

herd. John was an avid

supporter of health scheme

testing and contributed

significantly to the work of the

Technical committee in the

late 1980’s”.

“A long-standing Council

member and a former

President, 1997 – 2000, Johnny

always took the lead. With

his wife Mina, the herd was

established in 1978 and

they were at the forefront of

the breed, promoting is at

national and local shows for

many, many years”.

“From the early years to the

present day, Jim Goldie’s

Limousin herd has dominated

the breed and despite his

whole enterprise being

decimated by Foot & Mouth in

2001, his skill and enthusiasm

for the breed saw him rebuild

and regain his top position. He

is an inspiration to everyone”.
