Next up we held our Grand Prix at Keith show. A very

successful event even with it at the end of the summer

showing circuit we still managed a fantastic turnout

of top-quality animals. The long trip North provided

worthwhile for the Graham family at Burnbank Limousin’s

as they lifted the Overall Champion judged by Lynwen

Emslie of the Emsiles herd. Many thanks to her for giving

up her time to judge and also a massive thanks to the

Ritchie family for providing a new trophy for the Grand

Prix kindly donated by Wattie Ritchie, who’s memories

of him heckling and drinking OVD at the side of the ring

brings a smile to many people.

REGIONAL CLUBS

Thanks, must also go to the Davidson family and all the

Keith show committee for their support at Keith show,

helping get the marquee up, the extra Gazebo, drink etc.

Herd competition - first prize bull born 2021 meadowrig Scorpio.

Then we had the annual BBQ at night that was very

successful with a lot of tickets sold a good night was had

by all. Thanks to the Brown family of Auchmaliddie Mains

Beef for supplying the burgers and to everyone that

helped out tiding or dishing out salads etc.

The annual pedigree herd competition was judged this

year in August, by Mai Thomas of the Nebo herd. A strong

entry of 27 herds forward it was no easy task. Mr Thomas

thoroughly enjoyed his time in the North and it was

fantastic to welcome him to our AGM in October to give

his reasons and present his awards. The club would like

to extend thanks to Mr Thomas for giving up their time to

judge the herd competition.

First prize individual cow - Maraiscote Goldie.

New for 2022 was the introduction of our commercial

herd competition. A good entry of 9 herds were forward

with Mr James Little of the Guards herd in charge

of placings. We intend to run the Commercial herd

competition again in 2023, and look forward to working

with the commercial breeders to make this a strong

annual competition. The club extends thanks to Mr Little

for giving up his time to judge our new competition.

One of the last events of the year for the club every

summer is the club trip. We had a wee change to the

itinerary this year and decide to go study a different kind

of animal... race horses. Off we went to Carlisle races for

the day which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

First prize best 2021 heifer - Aultside Sugarbabe.

First prize 2022 born heifer - Grahams Trendy.

We then visited couple of herds with kind permission of

the Priestley family’s Brontemoore herd, the Richardson

family’s Mystyle herd and on our way home we had

a visit to the Glenrock herd Kind permission of of the

Illingworth family. The weather didn’t play ball 100%

of the time but the hospitality was second to none at

all the families as was the livestock on show a credit to

all. In memory of the late Hannah Brown (Richardson

family’s late daughter in law) we managed to raise £500

for the sepsis charity for them a tremendous effort from

everyone there.
