Best team in the beef team competition, continental

breed - Champions: Drumhilla Superstar, Charlotte’s

Sapphire, Derriaghy Rosie, Jalex Riri and Jalex Resta.

It was also a great day for the breed as Limousin sired

cattle reigned Overall and Reserve Overall Champions in

the Commercial Classes judged by Dafydd Lewis, Wales.

JCB commercials won Overall Commercial Champion

with Totally Illegal, a black March 2021 born crossbred

Limousin heifer sired by Mereside Lorenzo. Overall

Reserve Commercial Champion went to Duffton, Small

and Wilkinson with a February 2021 born Limousin heifer,

sired by Ampertaine Elgin.

June 2022

At the Royal Highland Show JCB Commercials won

Overall Commercial Champion with Fifty Shades of Grey,

an Ampertaine Elgin sired heifer.

July 2022

After an absence of three years the Club’s N.I. Limousin

Championship was held on Saturday 23 July 2022 at

Randox Antrim Show in the beautiful setting of Shanes

Castle Estate, Antrim.

With the judging in the very capable hands of renowned

Irish breeder Karol Connell from the Carrickmore Herd,

Co Meath the Overall Champion, Female Champion

and Intermediate Champion was Deerpark Saffron

bred by Connor and Ryan Mulholland. Born February

2021 Saffron is by Gerrygullinane Glen and out of the

homebred dam Deerpark Masie.

As well as winning Overall Limousin Champion Saffron

stood top of the line against heifers from all breeds in the

Beef Derby class later in the day and was also crowned

Beef Interbreed Champion.

Male Champion and Reserve Senior Champion was

Knockcroghery Scatdaddy exhibited by James Alexander.

This January 2021 born bull is sired by Derrygullinane

Kingbull.

The Junior Champion was Birchwood Superb home bred

by Marty & Ronan McGurk. Born August 2021 Superb is

sired by Lodge Hamlet.

Senior Champion was Glenrock Inclusive exhibited by D

G Green & Sons. Born November 2013 Inclusive is by the

Nenuphar son Bremore Artist and out of the renowned

Glenrock Spangle.

The Limousin Commercial Championship, for heifers

and steers sired by a Limousin bull took place after the

pedigree judging. Winning Commercial Champion was

Whitney, a Lodge Hamlet daughter born January 2021

from Neil Megarry.

BLCS held a special 50 th anniversary National Sale at

Borderway Mart on Friday 29 th July and of the fourteen

pre-selected lots forward N. I. breeders achieved the top

prices on the day.

Leading the trading at 26,000gns was the November

21 born bull calf Jalex Superb from James Alexander.

Superb is by the noted Derrygullinane Kingbull and out

of Jalex Missy.

Next to hit the highlights at 22,000gns was Trueman

Serenata, an April 21 born heifer from Henry Savage and

Sons and by the herd’s stock bull Telfers Munster.

Achieving 16,000gns was Charlottes Sapphire, a further

consignment from N.I. and home bred by Charlotte

Martin. Born April 2021 Sapphire is by Elite Forever Brill

and out of an Irish dam Roundhill Kmelodie1595.

The Yorkshire show in July saw the title of Overall

Commercial Champion go to Black Magic, a 21 month

old limousin x heifer exhibited and owned by Blair

Duffton, Gareth Small (N.I.) & Beth Wilkinson.

August 2022

Matthew Jordon of the Longhirst Herd, Northumberland

very kindly accepted our invitation to judge this year’s

Pedigree Herd Competition. 28 herds participated and

we are very grateful to Matthew for taking the time to

spend a week in N.I. visiting all the herds.
