Our local suckled calf shows and sales

were held at 8 marts and were yet again

a splendid display of young commercial

limousin animals from all regions of N.I.

Of note was an impressive limousin heifer

weighing in at 310kgs and realising £4,000.

entries at The Beef Expo in Carlisle on 28 October, saw

Derg Sassy Girl a 16 month old limousin X heifer from

November 2022

The Club’s annual prize giving and dinner was held on

19 November and saw 118 members and their families

come together for the first time in 3 years to celebrate

our achievements and successes. After the presentation

of awards, the Club held an on line charity auction

with the help of Elite Pedigree Sales, in aid of the Cystic

Fibrosis Trust and in memory of fellow breeder Ian

Davidson, Jnr who sadly passed away earlier this year.

£22,000 was raised from the auction and the Club are

indebted to all who donated lots for the auction and to

those who purchased online and from the floor on the

night.

Our busy year closed with the Royal Ulster Beef and

Lamb Championships where yet again our commercial

breeders did us proud.

Winning the highly sought after title of Supreme

Champion, was JCB Commercials with their heifer Totally

Illegal. On the night the animal sold for £6500 to Kitson

Family Butchers from North Yorkshire.

Robert Miller won the popular Ulster Housewife’s

Kesh for £3000. The prestigious Champion Calf of the

show was exhibited by Joseph McCarragher and was
