CR in the Environment PGB continues to improve its management of scheduled waste through existing PGB Scheduled Waste Request System. FROM LEFT: With good HSE track records and collective commitment from staff and contractors alike, PGB received the National Occupational Safety and Health Excellence Award from the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia. Prompt closures of action items highlighted in the Environmental Risk Reporting contributes towards excellence in plant operations. Prompt closures for action items raised in the exercises conducted on each project were also seen via walkabouts as well as progress meetings. This indicates effective and suffi cient internal controls were put in place to mitigate the environmental risks further. PGB continues to improve its management of scheduled waste through existing PGB Scheduled Waste Request System (e-POWERS) via information technology by reviewing and further enhancing the system. The Company also continued its commitment towards excellence in operations with the compliance to the latest revised Environment Quality Act such as EQ (Industrial Effl uent Treatment System) Regulations, 2009 and EQ (Sewage) Regulations, 2009 by identifying and endorsing relevant competent persons at each affected divisions as well as on-time submission of scheduled reporting to the Department of Environment in order to meet the new revised law’s requirements. 98 petronas gas berhad (101671-h) In spite of that, improvement on the internal reporting of environmental performance remained as central focus. PGB continued this effort under the year of review by supporting PETRONAS Group Health, Safety and Environment’s (GHSE) new environmental performance reporting format. New additional parameters included resource use, waste management and emission data reporting. The Company worked hard to ensure the reporting is complied with by integrating all divisional performance on the new monthly reporting format. By doing so, we continue to ensure PGB is not lagging in our commitment to sustainability, as pledged by Malaysia, which is a signatory of CoP15 Copenhagen 2009, in our effort to reduce climate change via establishment of greenhouse gas (GHG) baseline reporting.
AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS RECEIVED To further emerge as a world class organization focusing on environmental issues as identifi ed in PGB environmental fi ve year roadmap (2010- 2015), emphasis on getting environmental certifi cations were implemented. During the fi nancial year under review, two out of three PGB’s divisions were recertifi ed based on the Environmental Management Systems (EMS, ISO 14000). They were CUF (November 2010) and TOD (January 2011). During the year under review also, POD embarked on environmental management systems (ISO14000) certifi cation in May 2010 and was certifi ed in January 2011. The year under review also saw PGB once again receiving the Merit Award in Sustainability Development (SD) category at PETRONAS level. This is through its success in conducting “Knowing TOD programme” which was submitted as a paper during the PETRONAS Group HSE Forum 2010 held at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah in July 2010. With good HSE track records and collective commitment by staff and contractors alike, PGB was accredited with eight MSOSH awards. This year, it was a special achievement for PGB after successfully clinching three Grand Awards, four Gold Merit and a Gold Class I Award. 1. MSOSH Gold Merit Award for Segamat Regional Offi ce, TOD; and 8. MSOSH Gold Class 1 Award for Miri Regional Offi ce, TOD. Also in the year under review, the Company won an award in the “2009 National OSH Excellence Award” for Gas Utilities category which was presented to the MD/CEO, En. Samsudin Miskon by YAB Tan Sri Dato’ Haji Muhyiddin bin Haji Mohd Yassin, the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia. PGB received the award in recognition of the excellent practice at the Kuantan Regional Operations, Transmission Operation Division.
