Karate - Jushinkan Junior Beginner<br />

Location: Casorso elementary<br />
This entry level Karate program will introduce your child to basic skills<br />
learned in martial arts such as self-discipline and respect. this is also<br />
for students with 1 season experience (Karate bC membership fees<br />
apply after 1 season <strong>of</strong> instruction). Taught by nationally certified black<br />
belt instructors. Karate uniforms are optional. No class Feb 11.<br />
Age: 6Y - 10Y<br />

uniforms are required. Achievements from other styles are honoured.<br />

Learn Karate as a family. Learn JKA Karate from an instructor who<br />
was taught by his father. Family jKA Karate is specifically designed for<br />
families who would like to try an entry level karate with their children.<br />
It’s a great way to keep active together and still challenge each other.<br />
This safe, fun environment will encourage learning the basic skills <strong>of</strong><br />
jKA Shotokan Karate. Karate uniforms are optional. Fee is per one child<br />
and one parent.<br />

this class is specifically designed to focus on you and your child. the<br />
parent and child class will allow you to share in your child’s mental,<br />
physical and emotional development. Get an excellent workout and<br />
spend some quality time with your child. one <strong>of</strong> the few programs<br />
around that will allow you and your child an opportunity to learn and<br />
participate side by side. Our program will change both <strong>of</strong> your lives!<br />
Rie Obst is a 1st degree black belt and a nationally certified instructor.<br />
Karate uniforms are optional and can be purchased through the<br />
instructor. Fee is per person.<br />

this class is the continuation course for those parents and children<br />
who have completed the Karate Parent and Child beginner Shotokan<br />
class. it is specifically designed to continue to focus on you and your<br />
child while you learn and participate side by side. this parent and child<br />
class allows you to further share in your child’s mental,physical,and<br />
emotional development, and self - discipline. Get an excellent work<br />
out and spend some quality time with your child. this is a Monday and<br />
Wednesday class.Fee is $110.00 for 1 child and 1 parent. No class Feb 11.<br />

Karate Shotokan Junior Beginner<br />

This introductory class focuses on the skills <strong>of</strong> shotokan Karate with<br />
emphasis on basic techniques and self defense. Andy buch has a 3rd<br />
degree black belt and is a nationally certified instructor. he has won<br />
2 silver medals at the Tsutuoka Nationals in 2009 and is a provincial<br />
medalist. Karate uniforms are optional and can be purchased through<br />
the instructor. No class Feb 11.<br />

Karate Shotokan Junior Advanced<br />

For those students 7 - 15 years <strong>of</strong> age, who have previously taken<br />
Karate. The Tsuruoka style <strong>of</strong> Shotokan karate is taught. Robert Levin<br />
is a 3rd degree black belt, provincial gold and silver medalist, provincial<br />
referee, and nationally certified instructor. Karate uniforms are<br />
required. NKA fees and bC Tsuruoka Karate Association fees payable to<br />
the instructor. No class Feb 11.<br />

Music<br />
Fiddling & Violin Playing for Fun<br />
Instructor: Shamma Sabir/John Tribe<br />
Location: rutland Activity Centre, Hall<br />
this class is for children and youth who are already familiar with a<br />
fiddle or violin. Your child must be able to play the instrument and<br />
would like to expand and develop their skills through weekly practice.<br />
The program is taught and guided by local experts <strong>of</strong> the bC Old Time<br />
Fiddlers Association. It is strongly recommended that parents remain<br />
on site for the 30 minute class. Please bring your own violin or fiddle.<br />
Drop if fee $2.50.<br />

Guitar for Kids<br />
instructor: ryan Cournoyer<br />
Location: Parkinson recreation Centre, Art room<br />
Children will enjoy music, learn how to tune, strum with a pick and<br />
fret individual notes and chords. Classes include group instructions<br />
where students learn by mimicking the instructor and some individual<br />
attention. A 1/2 or 3/4 sized guitar is recommended for this age group,<br />
as well as an electronic tuner. This class is about playing not paperwork.<br />
build on this fun filled foundation for a future filled with music.<br />
