Tai Chi Chuan for Beginners -<br />

Yang Style - 24 Short Form<br />

Location: Parkinson recreation Centre, Spartan room<br />

Learn this ancient Chinese exercise that combines relaxed fluid<br />

movement with a calm, alert mental state to improve your entire well<br />

being. Tai Chi was developed as a martial art and is now also practiced<br />

by millions <strong>of</strong> people around the world to improve and maintain health.<br />

All movements can be applied to self defense. The Chinese say that<br />

whoever practices Tai chi will gain the pliability <strong>of</strong> a child, the health <strong>of</strong><br />

a lumberjack and the peace <strong>of</strong> mind <strong>of</strong> a sage. Clinical tests have shown<br />

those who practice Tai Chi have stronger hearts, better circulation and<br />

greater flexibility. qi Gong exercise, a foundation <strong>of</strong> Tai chi Chuan, will<br />

precede each class. Drop-in fee $11.75 if space available.<br />

This class is for those that have taken the Yang style short form course<br />

before (at least once) and would like to learn more about Tai Chi Chuan.<br />

As we review the movements in the 24 form, we will focus on the<br />

underlying principles <strong>of</strong> this art. since all movements can be applied<br />

to self defense, we will further explore the applications behind each<br />

movement. We will look at how Tai Chi can aid in bringing harmony,<br />

balance and good health to your life. qi Gong exercise, a foundation<br />

<strong>of</strong> Tai chi Chuan, will precede each class. Drop-in fee $8.50 if space<br />

Yang Style Tai Chi for beginners and repeaters. This ancient Chinese<br />

exercise, practiced by millions <strong>of</strong> people around the world is one <strong>of</strong><br />

the most respected exercises to improve and maintain health. eastern<br />

and Western scientific studies show the relaxed fluid movements<br />

<strong>of</strong> Tai Chi are ideal for greater flexibility, balance, increased overall<br />

energy, stronger hearts, better circulation, less stress and a deepened<br />

feeling for the harmony <strong>of</strong> life. Originally developed as a martial art,<br />

all movements are taught posture-by-posture with repetition and<br />

explanation. qi Gong (Chee Gung) exercise, the foundation <strong>of</strong> Tai Chi<br />

will precede each class. Previous Tai Chi experience required. Drop-in<br />

A gentle beginner Hatha style class that will complement any other<br />

activity and help develop flexibility, strength and balance. Yoga practice<br />

will help ease tension and melt away stress (a factor in weight gain).<br />

enjoy a beautiful lake view and s<strong>of</strong>t candlelight while you practice. No<br />

previous yoga experience needed and all levels welcome. Adaptations<br />

will be made for any body type and condition.<br />
