Yin Yoga<br />

Location: Watson road School, Gym<br />
Yin Yoga is a style <strong>of</strong> yoga designed to stretch out the connective tissue<br />
and deeply open the major joints <strong>of</strong> the body. in this class you will be<br />
holding passive floor posture for longer periods, allowing for a slow and<br />
safe opening <strong>of</strong> the spine, hips and pelvis. Although the postures are<br />
relaxing in nature, the stretches are deep. A focus on inner stillness<br />
and awareness creates an overall feeling <strong>of</strong> lightness, openness and<br />
peace in the body and mind. All levels <strong>of</strong> yoga experience welcome,<br />
modifications provided. Please bring a mat, blanket and water.<br />

This class is gentle and meditative- and in keeping with yin yoga, will<br />
involve 2-4 minute ‘holds’ in stretching postures to open the joints,<br />
& connective tissues, calm the nervous system and rejuvenate and<br />
harmonize the body. This is a mindful, deep practice, with a focus on<br />
floor work, ‘passive’ postures and receptivity. This class is great for<br />
anyone who desires an internally focused yoga experience and the<br />
opportunity to practice presence. this class is also a great compliment<br />
to any dynamic type <strong>of</strong> physical exercise. Drop in if space available<br />

Yogic Breath & Meditation- introduction<br />

Yoga is a vast system, <strong>of</strong> which physical postures are only one aspect.<br />
This series will introduce a variety <strong>of</strong> yogic breath (pranayam) and<br />
meditation techniques, and will expand our understanding <strong>of</strong> how the<br />
body, breath and mind are connected. Some <strong>of</strong> the benefits include:<br />
mental clarity, mood regulation, detoxification, nervous system<br />
balancing, and expanded consciousness. The majority <strong>of</strong> the class will<br />
focus on breath and meditation, with a brief warm-up for the body<br />
at the beginning. Appropriate for all, ideal for those with some yoga<br />
experience.<br />
