ACCeSS PASSeS<br />

… the 2013 Access Pass<br />

the Access Pass is a discount recreation pass<br />

for persons with a permanent cognitive or<br />

physical disability. to be eligible for an Access<br />

Pass the individual must meet the eligibility<br />

requirements (see below). The Access Pass is<br />

not designed for persons who are in a short<br />

term rehabilitation program.<br />

• ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS •<br />

Letter from pension provider stating name,<br />

phone number, mailing address, date <strong>of</strong> birth,<br />

and disability status. Pension providers include<br />

the Federal or Provincial Government, WCb,<br />

ICbC or a private insurance company. Partial<br />

disability pensions and pension applications in<br />

process will not be considered.<br />

A referral letter from an established agency,<br />

association or group home whose mandate is<br />

to support persons with a permanent disability.<br />

the referral letter must state the person’s<br />

name, phone number, mailing address, date <strong>of</strong><br />

birth and disability status. Referral letters from<br />

physicians and other medical pr<strong>of</strong>essionals will<br />

not be accepted.<br />

The approval <strong>of</strong> the Community <strong>Rec</strong>reation<br />

Coordinator.<br />

3 TYPeS oF PASSeS AVAiLABLe:<br />

1 Access Pass Combination this includes:<br />

• registered programs for persons with a disability,<br />

• admission to all swim times open to the public at<br />

the Parkinson Pool,<br />

• access to the Parkinson <strong>Rec</strong>reation Centre,<br />

Fitness Centre and<br />

• 50 percent fee discount when registering for an<br />

aquatic fitness and some land fitness programs.<br />

Cost: $126.63 for the year (Jan 1 - Dec 31)<br />

$63.32 for 6 mos. (Jan 1 - June 30 or<br />

July 1 - Dec 31).<br />

and could use assistance or support<br />

to participate in recreation or leisure activities?<br />

Volunteer Services will try to find a community volunteer to assist a person with<br />

a disability to pursue recreation or leisure opportunities. this service is available<br />

to children, teens and adults with a disability and is free to registered clients. All<br />

volunteers must go through a thorough screening process including a criminal<br />

record check before receiving a volunteer placement.<br />
