9.5.5.1 Sett<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> Agenda<br />
As <strong>the</strong> use <strong>of</strong> technology requires some skills and knowledge about<br />
certa<strong>in</strong> s<strong>of</strong>tware, hence <strong>the</strong> VDS <strong>framework</strong> requires some knowledge <strong>in</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> use <strong>of</strong> some sophisticated computer s<strong>of</strong>tware. It is <strong>the</strong>re<strong>for</strong>e<br />
necessary to spend some hours try<strong>in</strong>g to set up <strong>the</strong> scene and prepare<br />
<strong>the</strong> student <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> new way <strong>of</strong> learn<strong>in</strong>g. The students will also be<br />
required to prepare some materials that will help <strong>the</strong>m <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir self-<br />
learn<strong>in</strong>g. These materials <strong>in</strong>clude e-portfolio, e-learn<strong>in</strong>g diary, e-to do list<br />
and e-progress monitor sheets. Us<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> available onl<strong>in</strong>e tools <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
course (Google accounts) <strong>the</strong> students will make available <strong>the</strong>ir course<br />
materials <strong>for</strong> different purposes. The use <strong>of</strong> e-portfolio will help <strong>the</strong><br />
students know more about each o<strong>the</strong>r <strong>in</strong> terms <strong>of</strong> personality and skills<br />
which will make it easier <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong>m later to work toge<strong>the</strong>r and collaborate.<br />
It will also help <strong>in</strong> assess<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> students‟ progress through <strong>the</strong> course.<br />
The use <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> organisational material will help <strong>the</strong> students‟ plan and<br />
share <strong>the</strong>ir tasks among <strong>the</strong> groups. The students will also be asked to<br />
create a web page us<strong>in</strong>g Google‟s free site creation tools. The<br />
WebPages will be later l<strong>in</strong>ked to <strong>the</strong> ma<strong>in</strong> VDS 3 web page.<br />
9.5.5.2 Curriculum Revision<br />
For <strong>the</strong> VCCS to be effective and useful <strong>the</strong> <strong>design</strong> curriculum has to be<br />
revisited to <strong>in</strong>tegrate <strong>the</strong> VCCS <strong>model</strong> <strong>in</strong> it and make <strong>the</strong> tools available<br />
<strong>in</strong> VCCS useful and relevant to <strong>the</strong> aims and objectives <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> course it<br />
is represent<strong>in</strong>g. Models are made available <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> lecturers will make it<br />
easier <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong>m to learn, adapt, and <strong>the</strong>n use <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> benefit <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
students.<br />
As <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> VDS tools new dimensions were added as follow:<br />
� Assessment<br />
The availability <strong>of</strong> e-to do list, and e-progress monitor<strong>in</strong>g sheets, as well<br />
as <strong>the</strong> e-learn<strong>in</strong>g diary will assist <strong>the</strong> teacher <strong>in</strong> assess<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> students‟<br />
progress as well as <strong>the</strong>ir contribution towards <strong>the</strong> tasks allocated to<br />
