� Enhance collaborative creative practice <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> realm <strong>of</strong><br />

architecture and urban plann<strong>in</strong>g, through <strong>the</strong> use <strong>of</strong> real-<br />

time <strong>in</strong>teractive graphics <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g Sketch-up, Autocad,<br />

and Whiteboard.<br />

� Produce students who facilitate <strong>the</strong> Virtual Design process<br />

through <strong>the</strong> use <strong>of</strong> digital media, social network<strong>in</strong>g tools,<br />

multi-discipl<strong>in</strong>ary <strong>in</strong>tensive workshops and metaphorical<br />

th<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g, <strong>in</strong> order to <strong>for</strong>ge strong work<strong>in</strong>g partnerships.<br />

� Encourage <strong>the</strong> creation <strong>of</strong> <strong>in</strong>novative architectural <strong>design</strong><br />

concepts to re-shape <strong>the</strong> future <strong>of</strong> urban plann<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong><br />

Sharjah; combat<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> global issues <strong>of</strong> climate change and<br />

devolv<strong>in</strong>g architecture from a capitalist centric perspective<br />

to more socially-focused constructions.<br />

� Juxtapose a plethora <strong>of</strong> strategies and place <strong>in</strong> an<br />

immersive technological atmosphere <strong>for</strong> f<strong>in</strong>al exhibition,<br />

through <strong>the</strong> use <strong>of</strong> film.<br />

� Tackle cultural restrictions and cross gender boundaries<br />

through <strong>the</strong> use <strong>of</strong> digital media and technological<br />

resources provided by <strong>the</strong> VDS.<br />

Participants must be <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> process <strong>of</strong> undergo<strong>in</strong>g ei<strong>the</strong>r an undergraduate or<br />

postgraduate course at <strong>the</strong> UOS.<br />

The <strong>framework</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> multi-discipl<strong>in</strong>ary Virtual Design Studio Environment is based on<br />
