John Punter is a Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Urban Design at <strong>the</strong> school <strong>of</strong> City and Regional<br />
Plann<strong>in</strong>g at Cardiff University. Pr<strong>of</strong>. John Punter’s <strong>in</strong>terests range from<br />
contemporary urbanism, <strong>in</strong> particular aspects <strong>of</strong> urban plann<strong>in</strong>g, urban <strong>for</strong>m,<br />
urban <strong>design</strong>, and architecture to all aspects <strong>of</strong> contemporary plann<strong>in</strong>g practice<br />
especially <strong>the</strong> comparative analysis <strong>of</strong> plann<strong>in</strong>g systems, hav<strong>in</strong>g completed such<br />
studies <strong>of</strong> France, USA, Canada and Australia. For twenty-five years he’s been<br />
work<strong>in</strong>g on aspects <strong>of</strong> <strong>design</strong> control and <strong>the</strong> <strong>design</strong> dimension <strong>of</strong> plann<strong>in</strong>g, and<br />
this has <strong>in</strong>cluded major studies <strong>in</strong> British cities, Wales, Europe, <strong>the</strong> USA and<br />
Canada, and most recently <strong>in</strong> Australia. John Punter is an expert member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
Royal Town Plann<strong>in</strong>g Institute’s (RTPI) Urban Design Network Steer<strong>in</strong>g Group, a<br />
member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Urban Design Group and a Director <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Design Commission <strong>for</strong><br />
Wales. He is one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Chairs <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Design Review Panel and is heavily <strong>in</strong>volved<br />
<strong>in</strong> <strong>design</strong> tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g with Welsh Local Plann<strong>in</strong>g Authorities and o<strong>the</strong>r development<br />
and plann<strong>in</strong>g agencies. He contributed to <strong>the</strong> recent Department <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
Environment Transport and <strong>the</strong> Regions (DETR) advice By Design, <strong>the</strong> UDG advice<br />
on Design Guidance, and <strong>the</strong> RTPI advice on <strong>design</strong> policies <strong>in</strong> development plans<br />
(From Design Policy to Design Quality). He is on <strong>the</strong> Editorial Board <strong>of</strong> five<br />
plann<strong>in</strong>g, urban <strong>design</strong> and property journals (TPR, JUD, UDI, JPR, IPS) and has<br />
guest edited <strong>for</strong> four more journals. He serves on <strong>the</strong> RIBA’s Plann<strong>in</strong>g Panel and<br />
<strong>the</strong> <strong>for</strong>mer ODPM's Plann<strong>in</strong>g Research Network. He is a Board Member <strong>of</strong><br />
Resources <strong>for</strong> Urban Design In<strong>for</strong>mation (RUDI).<br />
Emma Price, College <strong>of</strong> F<strong>in</strong>e Art (COFA), University New South Wales, Australia<br />
Emma is Sydney based artist who teaches at COFA, UNSW but is also one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
members <strong>of</strong> The K<strong>in</strong>gp<strong>in</strong>s.<br />
The K<strong>in</strong>gp<strong>in</strong>s play with <strong>the</strong> gaps <strong>in</strong> and between with an <strong>in</strong>f<strong>in</strong>ite series <strong>of</strong><br />
transgressive drag acts. Materialis<strong>in</strong>g from Sydney’s drag scene, <strong>the</strong> female<br />
foursome utilize <strong>the</strong> aes<strong>the</strong>tics <strong>of</strong> remix<strong>in</strong>g, with elements taken from<br />
ma<strong>in</strong>stream media, pop culture and art history. They address issues <strong>of</strong> gender,<br />
sex, public space, consumerism and corporate brand<strong>in</strong>g. Their per<strong>for</strong>mances mix<br />
music, video and costume, and are presented as public <strong>in</strong>terventions, sometimes<br />
<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>for</strong>m <strong>of</strong> ‘surprise’ actions. Gallery <strong>in</strong>stallations with posters, projections<br />
and soundtracks accompany <strong>the</strong>ir per<strong>for</strong>mances. Described as ‘humorous,<br />
