In 2000 this site was probably the largest boatbuilding operation on the tidal River
Thames. The boatyard built high-speed ferries for White Horse Fast Ferries that
sought to provide a Gravesend to London service. White Horse Fast Ferries went
into receivership in 2000. The boatyard closed and the adjoining areas have been
granted consent for residential development.
