income from <strong>the</strong> sites <strong>the</strong>y own.<br />

Comments (2007)<br />

The site is subject to a major redevelopment proposal and masterplanning exercise<br />

in <strong>the</strong> Gravesham Borough Council Canal Basin/North East Gravesend SPD,<br />

November 2005 .<br />

The brief proposes high density mixed use development <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> waterfr<strong>on</strong>t up-river <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

Dent<strong>on</strong>s, <strong>the</strong> retenti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Dent<strong>on</strong>s Slipway and <strong>the</strong> development <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> medium density<br />

residential – led mixed use development between Dent<strong>on</strong>s Slipway and Dent<strong>on</strong><br />

Wharf (PAL). The form <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> operati<strong>on</strong>s at Dent<strong>on</strong>s slipway with open-air working<br />

means that <strong>the</strong>re will be significant impacts <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> form <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> work allowed, hours <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

operati<strong>on</strong>s and type <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> work that will ultimately be allowed <strong>on</strong> site. The residential<br />

proposals could lead to <strong>the</strong> loss <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> boat repair facility as it is a B2 general<br />

industrial use. The PLA has objected to Gravesham’s draft proposals (see Record<br />

Sheet 51).<br />
