Planning and envir<strong>on</strong>mental health issues:<br />

Mr Allen has received complaints since a new housing scheme was developed <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

sou<strong>the</strong>rn bank (facing <strong>the</strong> site) a few years ago. The complaints have been about<br />

noise and vehicles bringing deliveries to a landing stage for transfer by boat to <strong>the</strong><br />

site. This culminated in a barrier being erected (for which Mr Allen has a key) so that<br />

delivery vehicles have to ring ahead so that he can meet <strong>the</strong>m at <strong>the</strong> barrier.<br />

Relati<strong>on</strong>ship to adjoining land uses/o<strong>the</strong>r boatyard facilities:<br />

There are no o<strong>the</strong>r buildings <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> island apart from a house occupied by <strong>the</strong><br />

members <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> Allen family. Barfield Marine and Hampt<strong>on</strong> Ferry <str<strong>on</strong>g>Boatyard</str<strong>on</strong>g> are a few<br />

hundred metres upstream.<br />

Access arrangements (capacity, proximity to major roads):<br />

There is no vehicular access to <strong>the</strong> site and it is <strong>on</strong>ly possible to reach it by boat or<br />

by foot (across Molesey Lock). Mr Allen has to pay <strong>the</strong> Envir<strong>on</strong>ment Agency for <strong>the</strong><br />
