Context
The Environment Agency has marketed the 1.79 hectares Sunbury Yard at
Fordingbridge Road for commercial or residential development. It is reviewing bids
for the site currently. All but one are for residential development. The site brief
requires the retention <strong>of</strong> the existing access to the dry dock and maintenance yard
on Wheatlet Ait (island).
Planning and environmental health issues:
The operator was not aware <strong>of</strong> any complaints regarding noise. The boatyard element
<strong>of</strong> the site on Wheatleys Ait is located within the Borough <strong>of</strong> Elmbridge, although the
landward element <strong>of</strong> the site falls within the Borough <strong>of</strong> Spelthorne.
Relationship to adjoining land uses/other boatyard facilities:
The dry dock and waterside area on Wheatleys Ait is separated from the main yard
and <strong>of</strong>fice complex by a small river cut.
