The site is <strong>on</strong>e <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> few places <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Thames</strong> which has a large residential mooring<br />
capacity. Boatbuilding is also undertaken at <strong>the</strong> site (steel barges). Mr Osgood would<br />
like to provide fur<strong>the</strong>r moorings (linking up <strong>the</strong> gap) between <strong>the</strong> two current<br />
p<strong>on</strong>to<strong>on</strong>s and a tidal grid (in additi<strong>on</strong> to <strong>the</strong> beachblocks <strong>the</strong>y already possess) so that<br />
more boats could be worked up<strong>on</strong>.<br />
Comments (2007)<br />
The CYBC had received permissi<strong>on</strong> for a third access to <strong>the</strong> site from <strong>the</strong><br />
Embankment. This would provide an additi<strong>on</strong>al point <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> access for residents at <strong>the</strong><br />
marina. They also had developed an extra mooring downstream <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> new access<br />
point that was a 60ft boat extending towards <strong>the</strong> centre <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> river which would<br />
provide better access and working areas.<br />
In <strong>the</strong> 2000 study it was mooted by <strong>the</strong> operators <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> site that <strong>the</strong>y were looking<br />
to “bridge <strong>the</strong> gap” in terms <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> moorings. This would provide an additi<strong>on</strong>al number <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
moorings which had no estimated number. This applicati<strong>on</strong> hadn’t been pursued and<br />
<strong>the</strong> operator stated that <strong>the</strong>y were no l<strong>on</strong>ger looking to pursue this development.<br />
Employment numbers etc were static between <strong>the</strong> 2000 study and 2006.<br />
