La Tabla periódica<br />
Para facilitar la vida ten<strong>de</strong>mos a or<strong>de</strong>nar y a clasificar. Así en un supermercado<br />
encontramos los productos or<strong>de</strong>nados según su utilidad: comestibles, artículos <strong>de</strong><br />
limpieza, juguetes, etc. En una biblioteca encontramos libros or<strong>de</strong>nados por temas:<br />
Historia, Ciencias, Arte, etc.<br />
De la misma manera, <strong>para</strong> facilitar el estudio <strong>de</strong> los elementos químicos, se clasifican<br />
y or<strong>de</strong>nan teniendo en cuenta sus propieda<strong>de</strong>s químicas. De este or<strong>de</strong>namiento<br />
resulta la Tabla periódica <strong>de</strong> los elementos químicos.<br />
En la Tabla periódica los elementos están organizados en periodos y grupos.<br />
Los periodos periodos son las filas horizontales <strong>de</strong> la tabla y se <strong>de</strong>signan con números <strong>de</strong>l<br />
1 al 7. El número indica el número <strong>de</strong> niveles que tiene el átomo.<br />
Los grupos grupos son las columnas verticales y se i<strong>de</strong>ntifican con números romanos <strong>de</strong>l<br />
I al VIII. En los grupos principales, a cada número le sigue la letra A. En los<br />
subgrupos, <strong>de</strong>spués <strong>de</strong>l número sigue la letra B.<br />
Los químicos han agrupado los elementos químicos teniendo en cuenta que:<br />
● Los elementos se presentan por or<strong>de</strong>n creciente <strong>de</strong> número atómico (1, 2, 3,<br />
4, 5, 6,7,……).<br />
● Se sitúan en la misma columna los elementos que tienen propieda<strong>de</strong>s químicas<br />
parecidas.<br />
