If the soft starter is not installed immediately, it should be stored in a clean, dry area where the ambienttemperature is between 0 °C and 70 °C. Avoid storage environments with corrosive atmospheres or highhumidity.Note: Installation must be performed by qualified personnel as indicated on page 1 of this manual.WARNINGVoltage or fire hazard.Can cause death, serious injury,or property damage.To prevent electrical shock or burns, do not leaveforeign objects (wire clippings, metal chips, etc.) eitherinside or on top of the soft starter during installationprocedures.2. The carton and packing materials should be retained in case there is a future need to return the soft starter tothe factory for service or repair. The carton and packing material are especially fitted to protect the soft starterfrom shipping damage.If these materials are not used for shipping, claims for shipping damage may be rejected by the freight carrier.5.2 Mounting1. Section 2 of the manual contains soft starter mounting dimensions and data. Air flow through the unit isvertical, from bottom to top.WARNINGFire hazardCan cause death, serious injury, or propertydamage.To prevent a fire, the soft starter, especially anon-fan-cooled unit, must be mounted with its fins in avertical direction only. Sideways mounting andimproper ventilating can result in fire.2. Adequate cooling is essential for proper operation. Leave at least 6 inches (150 mm) of clearance above andbelow the unit to allow unimpeded convection or fan air flow.
