Mexicorepresents a very important destination for ourefforts of development and the introduction ofnew brands in the market”.Marriot will double itspresence in Latin America for2017The hotel and travel sector worldwide currentlyshows accelerated growth. In 2013, more than1.1 billion people traveled outside their countryand estimations say that in 2017, the numberwill be 2 billion. Marriot International will takeadvantage of this favorable situation to reach afigure of 5,000 hotels in 100 countries for 2017,in addition to doubling its presence in LatinAmerica from 82 to 150 hotels through its differentbrands in 22 countries.During World Travel & Tourism (WTTC)2014, Craig Smith, President of Latin Americaand the Caribbean Region of Marriot International,explained that “the middle class expansionand continuous growth of available incomewill boost travels around the world among LatinAmericans”.Hotel FibrasFibra Hotel, in its 3T2014 report, closed withan outstanding portfolio of 63 hotels that representan amount of 8,694 rooms, including 49operating hotels, 13 under development, andrepositioning of one property. Besides, duringthis third trimester, acquisitions in three hotelswere consolidated, as well as the approvalfor the development of Hotel One Perisur (144rooms), which is expected to open during thethird trimester of 2015, and the selected-servicesHotel Toreo (130 rooms), whose conclusionis expected by the fourth trimester, 2015.On the other hand, Fibra Inn pointed out thatin 3T2014 had 27 operating hotels, purchase proceduresfor 7 hotels, and 3 were being developed;the total sum reaches 5,532 rooms, out of which,645 are under construction.
