Course contents<br />
The course prepares students with basic language skills in common business situations. Learning<br />
materials cover for example the following items:<br />
ways of addressing customers and business partners<br />
simple business telephone conversation<br />
conversation with a taxi driver<br />
changing money in a bank<br />
booking a hotel room<br />
attending a birthday party of a business partner<br />
going shopping<br />
discussion about quality and prices<br />
bargaining<br />
Chinese word-processing programs such as Njstar, Windows IME, and Google Pinyin, as well as<br />
online translation and reading assistant programs.<br />
Cooperation with the business community and other organisations<br />
The course simulates real business situations as much as possible.<br />
Teaching and learning methods<br />
The course consists of contact hours and independent study, totalling 80 hours of study time.<br />
Contact hours 44 h<br />
Two written exams 2 h + 2 h = 4 h<br />
Independent study 33 h<br />
There is a mandatory attendance of 80%.<br />
Oral presentations must be completed before the exam.<br />
