Learning outcomes<br />
After completing this course, the student will have a solid understanding of Chinese business culture and<br />
business etiquette from both the theoretical and the language point of view. When encountering Chinese<br />
partners in different business circumstances, the student will have a relatively good knowledge of how to<br />
work as a “culture interpreter”.<br />
Course contents<br />
The course covers the following areas:<br />
basic information about the Chinese business world<br />
economic role of ethnic overseas Chinese<br />
deep structure of Chinese culture<br />
Chinese filosophy<br />
Chinese way of thinking<br />
Chinese business etiquette in social life, communication, customer service and business<br />
relationship<br />
what are good to do and what should be avoided in maintaining Guanxi-relationship<br />
During this course the student will continue practicing the reading and writing skills with the help of<br />
Chinese computing programs. However, fluent oral communication skills are especially emphasized.<br />
Cooperation with the business community and other organisations<br />
Finnish companies doing business in Chinese-speaking countries and Chinese companies in Finland.<br />
Teaching and learning methods<br />
The course consists of contact hours, internet study based on Moodle and independent study, totalling<br />
80 hours of study time.<br />

Moodle based interactive multimedia study and preparation for exam 49 h.
